We ended up losing track of lion sightings but 15 cheetah and 6 leopard was enough to remember an amazing safari. And one lovely black spitting cobra made an appearance to my guests delight!

A safari in the rainy season can certainly be stressful but oh my goodness, it is so worth it. After 3 years of terrible drought there is an undescribable freshness out there. Landscapes have become vibrant paradises. The air is crystal clear. And the animals are in a forgotten heaven. Bliss!

It should have been called ‘A Big Cat Safari’ but little did I know we would end up seeing what we did. Here are just some of the best sightings including, of course, my first melanistic leopard for 21 years. A tear was brought to my eye!!

I am excited to reveal that with this image I have reached the finals of the Remembering Leopards photo contest! Over 3500 images were submitted this year, the biggest year yet for Remembering Wildlife and the entry fees raised over £19,000 for conservation. The team are currently running a Kickstarter campaign until the 30th April at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/margotraggett/remembering-leopards to fund this year's book, so please do check it out and consider pre-ordering what the producers hope will be the most beautiful book on leopards ever seen. The final 20 winners will be announced on 28th April! To date, Remembering Wildlife has distributed more than £1m GBP/$1.3m USD to conservation projects and with Remembering Leopards, hopes to take that total even higher

I think I have mountain madness!

Never have I seen Mount Kenya so brilliantly clear throughout daylight hours for this many consecutive days. For me it rests as one of the most spectacular backdrops to a wildlife location. With these photos, some might say I am a little obsessed with it. I guess possibly they are right.

Another leopard post I know but I cannot resist. When I first saw this young tom I thought he was melanistic. As he descended the tree I realized that most of his pelt was merely covered in black cotton mud. A shy leopardess in a similar state had disappeared just before these photos so I assume they had been rolling around in the mud together!

I have been searching for this leopardess for a while now and finally found her 2 days ago. Notice she only has 3 legs; assumption is she may have lost it to a snare. Resilience, stealth, slendour; there is nothing that compares to a leopard for me
