The Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja calls for an immediate stop of extortion. He says bribe money is not clean money and when used on children it spells a curse on them.
This comes shortly after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) crackdown on shameless bribe-taking fault-finding law enforcers.
At Bodaboda Fraternity we laud the IG for calling out on his officers to stop the vice.

Bodaboda Safety Sensitization in Mwavumbo Ward

Our bodaboda safety sensitization campaign continues! Today, we engaged bodaboda operators in Mwavumbo Ward, Through Hon. Benjamin Tayari chairman Kenya Ports Authority ,accompanied by former Kwale Woman Rep. Hon. Zuleikha, MCA Mkongani, MCA Ndavaya, Nominated MCA Ndegwa, Hon. Beja, and other leaders.

Key highlights of the session:
✅ Road Safety Awareness – We emphasized the importance of wearing helmets and following traffic rules to reduce accidents.
✅ Formation of Ward SACCOs – Riders were urged to form SACCOs to enhance savings, welfare, and economic growth.
✅ Biashara Fund Public Participation – MCAs encouraged bodaboda operators to take part in upcoming public participation meetings to access loans and grants aimed at empowering youth.
✅ Vocational Training for Dongo Kundu Jobs – Hon. Tayari urged bodaboda operators to enroll in vocational training to gain certification for opportunities in the upcoming KSh 65 Billion Dongo Kundu Economic Zone, which is set to create massive employment.

This campaign has been running across Kinango and Samburu Sub-County, and we are committed to reaching all wards. Together, we are building a safe, organized, and empowered bodaboda sector!

Yesterday, our patron Abubakar Mkumbuka Banzi held a productive meeting with all ward chairs in Culture Kwale to share his visionary plan for the Kwale Bodaboda sector. In his remarks, he emphasized the need to empower both riders and leaders within the sector.

Having traveled extensively to countries like China and leveraging his position as the KNCCI Kwale Chair, our patron has engaged with several companies to establish an assembly center in Kwale. This initiative aims to reduce the cost of motorcycles and spare parts for the benefit of the local riders.

Additionally, he announced a pilot program in one ward that will include:

Training for riders,

Unique reflectors with identification numbers,

Registration of all stages,

Formation of SACCOs for each ward,

Low-interest loans for the community, among other benefits.

We are committed to supporting our patron's efforts to transform and uplift the Bodaboda sector in Kwale. Together, we can achieve great strides for the betterment of our riders and the entire community.

Today, led by our County Chairman, actively participated in the regional meeting held in Mombasa. Our delegation included the County Secretary from Kinango/Samburu Sub-County, the Deputy Chair and Deputy Development Chair from Matuga Sub-County, as well as the Lunga Lunga Sub-County Chair.

The meeting, in collaboration with our partner Watu Credit, reviewed last year’s programs and laid out the 2025 work plan. Key discussions centered on development, welfare, and sports for the bodaboda community. Excitingly, they planned to organize football tournaments from the ward level to the regional level to promote talent and unity.

They were also joined by Spiro, who showcased their new electric bike model, and Abson Motors, who shared exciting offers on their bikes and Tuktuks.

Working Together for a Safer Community

County Chairperson of the Association, together with other officials were honored to attend the Diani Police station End-Year Party, an event that highlighted the importance of collaboration between the police and various community stakeholders. The event brought together the Diani business community, CECM for Tourism, Trade, and Cooperatives representing the Kwale County Governor, advisors from the Office of the Governor, security officers, and members of the local community.

Our bodaboda sector has been working closely with the police to enhance safety and security in our region. Through our Bodaboda Security Team, we have established effective channels for information sharing and swift responses to incidents.

We are proud to have both day and night shift riders dedicated to ensuring a secure environment, not just for our riders but for the entire community. By cooperating with security agencies, we aim to create a safer working environment and contribute to reducing crime in Msambweni and beyond.

Let us continue to foster these partnerships as we look forward to a more secure and prosperous year ahead.

In kenya ,the minimum age to obtain a motorcycle license is 16 years old for a category A1 license which allows you to ride a 50cc motorcycle without a passenger. The minimum age for other motorcycle license is 18 years.

A2 -18 years old for a motorcycle upto 400cc with a maximum load of 60kgs .

A3-21 years old, a month taxi ( bodaboda) or tuktuk and you must have atleast a one year of previous category A2 riding experience.

A2 is the most common license. It allows you to drive 100cc to 400cc motorcycle on public roads with no restrictions on age as long as you are 18years and above.

Kwale Safe Festive Bodaboda Meeting - A Step Towards Unity and Empowerment

On 14th, the association over 24 county officials attended our Safe Festive Bodaboda meeting held in Bang’a, Kinango, Kwale County.

Key highlights included:

Road Safety and Crime Prevention: Addressed by Traffic Police and the OCS to ensure safer roads for bodaboda riders.

Drug Awareness: NACADA sensitized attendees on the dangers of drug abuse.

Government Support Programs: The Deputy Government Spokesperson elaborated on government initiatives benefiting bodaboda riders, including SHA registration.

The Chief Guest, Deputy Governor of Kwale County, emphasized the county’s dedication to empowering bodaboda riders through:

Providing driving training,

Building bodaboda shades,

Allocating tenders to bodaboda groups.

As an association, we are proud of the unity demonstrated and grateful for the recognition of our county chair who also is the National Secretary for bringing bodaboda riders together and preaching peace across Kenya.

We remain committed to supporting bodaboda riders through empowerment, safety, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Today, in an initiative led by Kerra Kwale Engineer and kerra road safety team from Nairobi, conducted a road safety sensitization program aimed at enhancing safety awareness among boda boda operators in Kwale Town and Ukunda.

The primary objectives of the exercise were:

To promote road safety awareness during this festive season.

To educate boda boda operators on traffic rules and speed regulations.

To distribute reflectors to enhance visibility and reduce accidents.

To emphasize the importance of caring for the safety of our members and the public.

Road Safety Sensitization: Boda boda operators were educated on critical road safety practices, including adherence to speed limits, traffic rules, and the importance of safe riding.

Distribution of Reflectors: Reflectors were provided to boda boda riders to improve visibility, especially during night hours
