Geography of KISII TOWN 🇰🇪

Kisii town, also known as Getembe or Bosongo, is a vibrant municipality and urban center located in south-western Kenya. It serves as the capital of Kisii County and is a significant commercial hub in the Gusii Highlands, encompassing Kisii and Nyamira counties, as well as the South Nyanza region. It’s the second largest town in the greater Nyanza area after Kisumu City1.

The town boasts a rich history, originally known to the Gusii people as Getembe and later named Bosongo during the colonial era. It has a diverse population, predominantly inhabited by the Gusii community, with other ethnic groups contributing to its cultural tapestry1.

Economically, Kisii town thrives on commerce and agriculture, with crops like maize, beans, bananas, and cash crops like coffee and tea being central to its economy. The town is also known for its lush greenery and mild equatorial climate, offering a comfortable environment with moderate temperatures throughout the year1.

ELDORET SET TO BECOME A CITY IN APRIL!

The name "Eldoret" is based on the Maasai word "eldore" meaning "stony river" [2] because the bed of the nearby Sosiani River is very stony. The white settlers decided to call it Eldoret to make it easier for them to pronounce it. At start of the colonial era, the area was occupied by the Nandi, before that by the Maasai and before that the Sirikwa.

In Kenya, the Gedi ruins are the most famous. A lesser-known but remarkable historic site is the Jumba La Mtwana near Mtwapa town.
The name means “big house of the slave,” which suggests that there was a slave port here to markets in the Middle East.
Although many of the buildings have crumbled, you can still see the arrangement of different rooms and chambers that had specific purposes.
Inside Jumba’s gallery is a collection of artefacts, such as silver jewellery, an Arab sword and shield, an intricately carved grave marker, Chinese ceramics, shards of local pottery, and an Arabic oud guitar.

Nature is beautiful inside Mabira Forest, Uganda. It's alleged that some trees developed deadly weapons below their belly stem to scare away people who enter the forest to fetch fire wood. But that gender only fears God. 🫣😃

Mabira Forest is the largest block of moist semi-deciduous forest remaining in the central region of . The reserve occupies gently undulating country, characterized by numerous flat-topped hills and wide, shallow valleys. Some of these valleys have papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) swamps.
