Destination, Naivasha, has a lot to offer to anyone looking for a relaxing and peaceful day trip, vacation, adventure or adrenaline-inspiring adventure. Hell's Gate National Park is one of the must-see places.

Despite its somewhat uncertain name, Hell's Gate National Park is an ideal location for a day trip, a truly panoramic picnic spot, or a memorable camping stop. Carved deep into the Great Rift Valley floor, this relatively small park offers endless biodiversity and is one of two Kenya parks for hiking and cycling.

Landscapes, towering cliffs, carved canyons, rocky rock towers, bushy volcanoes, and geothermal steam bubbling eruptions are one of Africa's most mysterious parks.

A female European Honey Buzzard Bird was fitted with a satellite tracking system in Finland recently and was of particular interest to locals because it spent the most recent austral summer around the town of Reitz in the Free State in South Africa. She left Reitz to start heading north on 20 April and on the 2nd of June, she finally reached Finland where she will probably spend the boreal summer before probably returning again next season for a visit in South Africa.
Here is an image showing the data received from the tracker which plots out the route that she took to head north... so, in just 42 days, she covered over 10 000 km at an average of more than 230 km every single day! Isn’t that just amazing...?!"
What is amazing is how she took a straight line north except for when she had to fly over water. (or Sudan)
Apparently she turned right at the source of the Nile and followed it. It is still fascinating that after that deviation she returned to the same longitudinal line she started on and continued unt

Derivation of scientific name Proboscidea derived from the Greek word proboscis meaning ‘before the mouth’, referring to the trunk of the elephant. Loxodonta from the Greek words loxo, meaning oblique-sided, and donta, meaning tooth.

Through the ages, the African elephant has captured the imaginations of people across the globe. No species has received more attention than the elephant. Not only is it the largest land animal, but its intelligence, extraordinary communication, similar lifespan to humans, strong sense of family and its uncanny ability to understand death have fascinated philosophers, poets, scientists and the general public alike.

The skin of the elephant can be as thick as 2.5 cm or more on some parts of the body such as on parts of the head and on the back, while it is paper thin in other areas such as the back of the ears and around the mouth. Young elephants are covered in brownish to reddish hairs, especially on their backs and head. As the elephant grows older the amount of hair reduces.

Did you know Africa has a group of animals known as the “Small Five”? Surprisingly, they share names with the renowned 'Big Five' animals!

The Small Five might not be as iconic as the Big Five, but they play essential roles in their respective ecosystems and offer unique opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts to appreciate Africa's biodiversity.

Hunting of a cheetah group is a complex process, which includes two interconnected conditions – coordination of actions of coalition members and the adequate space for it. Before hunting, cheetahs scan the area for other predators and rarely hunt if they spot any. Through hunting experience, predators learn behavior of a frightened prey, but cannot predict movements of vehicles. To start the chase, group members (for example, Tano Bora) must be sure that nothing will stop them from completing the hunt. Therefore, often when they see a car behind prey, the males cancel the hunt and change direction. Tano Bora (Fast Five) males apply different tactics: 1) one male initiates the hunt and after a short delay, others (one to four) participate in a chase, 2) two/three members chase different ungulates and once one of them succeeds, all males joint the hunter to take down an antelope; or 3) two/three males chase different antelopes contemporaneously and each ( usually two) make kills at a considerable distance

On the shores of Lake Naivasha in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, there was a small population of Masai giraffes who were struggling for their survival due to human-wildlife conflict in the community land. The giraffe were losing their habitat rapidly, had lost access to the lake water due to farmland fences.

In February, Save Giraffes Now partnered with The Safari Collection, Giraffe Manor, and Kenya Wildlife Service to relocate 21 of these giraffe to a safe and happier home. 9 were walked into nearby protected conservancies whilst 12 were translocated by truck to Loldia Farm.

It’s no easy feat to move giraffe, and the team of over 25 people did an incredible job! Some of the giraffe were in poor condition, with one having a deep spear wound, and another with a snare embedded in his leg. The relief we felt knowing these giraffe now had a chance to live freely in a safe and happy habitat was huge!

Almost a month after this successful translocation - we are delighted to let you know that the giraffes are being spotted regularly in their new home and have been seen in small groups enjoying the wide array of acacia trees alongside the lake!

Fabulous Fern is a vibrant and critically endangered swift parrot who was recently brought to our partner Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary after flying into a window. Thankfully, the ifaw vet team was able to assess her health through a flight test, physical exam, x-rays and a blood test to conclude that she suffered from bruising and a concussion. Luckily, Fern has already made a full recovery and was recently released back into the wild!

We are excited to share that we will now be able to save even more Tasmanian wild animals like Fern! IFAW has provided critical resources for an additional veterinarian and veterinary nurse to increase operating hospital hours at Bonorong to seven days a week for the first time in their history. The specialist IFAW vet team sees around 120 animals a week—many of them sick, injured or orphaned as a result of human activities like car collisions or entanglements. This support means wildlife can receive immediate and potentially life-saving treatment—no matter the day of the week.

Once in your lifetime pay for quality... Value, excellence and beauty. Kenya is such a place where you go and forget about everything. If honeymooners a destination to cement your love. If anniversary clients a place to rekindle the flame... If lovers the place to reminisce the times shared.
