We closed on this cutie on Monday, April 3rd. We have big plans for her. Thinking romantic getaway for 2 or a small family vacation just 1 mile from Castle Rock Lake. We are going to have to be creative in order to provide all the must have amenities plus a little “extra”. I’m so excited to get started!!!

Well…we said farewell to Queen of Camelot last Friday. Hoping she went to a good family. 💔

It was a tough decision but the numbers just weren’t right so we decided to offload her so we can invest in a property that brings in more revenue.

I do have to say that the two 4th of July parties we had will go down in history.

The previous owners left decorative oars on a wall in the living room which we actually really liked. We decided to keep that “theme” going throughout the rest of the house. In our search for furniture and decorations we found the perfect oars at and she gave us a heck of a deal too! So…we incorporated oars in every bedroom and I really love the way everything came together!

Duke’s Palace is our newest short-term rental. It has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and comfortably sleeps 12! All of our beds have memory foam mattresses and cotton sheets. King’s Castle was our first short-term rental. We purchased the lake house one week before the 4th of July in 2020. After spending two days of looking at several homes we drove three hours home feeling defeated. We just didn’t find anything that met the mark. Then, that night I was looking on Zillow and found “the one”. How had we not seen this house before?!?! I called our realtor and asked if we could see it. Long story short, the next day I drove three hours back to Castle Rock Lake for a showing. Tony couldn’t get off of work so the girls and I face-timed him taking him through the house. We made an offer right then, before we even left the house! My stomach was in knots for 24 hours until we received the accepted offer!

I love this house. It has my heart.

At King’s Castle we gave each bedroom a theme inspired by an animal. This is the Highlander Room named after the Scottish Highlander Cow.

We also call is the “grandma room” because that’s where Grandma sleeps when she visits. Lol.

Well, the King, Queen and Duke are all rented….so we are off in the RV for the weekend!

Last weekend we were at King’s Castle doing some maintenance. I decided to take the jet ski out to see if I could find the Duke. After a couple passes by the shoreline I found it! I timed my ride back to the King. 9 minutes! It’s crazy because it takes 25 minutes by car.

The lake was pretty rough which made the perfect waves for jet skiing. I really hope to squeeze in a weekend on the water before the season is over. 🤞🏽

It’s been a whirlwind of a summer! I can’t believe it’s almost over. My kids have one more week before school starts. 😭

One of the many things I love about Wisconsin is that they don’t usually start school until after Labor Day. Not like for us, in Illinois, starting in the middle of August. 😖

This week is going to be busy getting school supplies, school clothes, back to school physicals and dentist appointments. Also, hoping some of the open weeks in August fill in at Duke’s Palace!

We have our first guests at Duke’s Palace this week! They checked in on Saturday. I went up last week for a few days to do some last minute things to make sure we were as ready as could be….but for some reason I’m still stressing that I forgot something. 😅 I’ll be glad to have the first reservation under my belt.

The process of getting a short-term rental up and running is so stressful yet so rewarding. I love it! One thing I’m learning after number 3 is that it’s never finished. There are always tweaks that can be made to make it better. I’m always looking for ways to improve things in order to give our guests the best possible vacation.

Duke’s Palace is live on Airbnb! I am so happy with the way things came together. It has such a nice vibe. A little bit modern, a little bit rustic; totally capturing the lake house feel! It has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, open concept dining, living room and kitchen area, screened in porch, and lower level family room with 75 in TV, wet bar and game table. The view of Castle Rock Lake is breathtaking!

Well, it’s been another crazy busy week. 😅 However, we did take some time off from working on the new house for the holiday weekend. We hosted our 2nd Annual 4th of July Bash and it was a blast!!! Seafood boil, water gun fights, yard games, campfire, boating and jet skiing, fireworks 💥 Already can’t wait till next year!!!

I’d say we are about 80% done over at the new place. Still waiting on a furniture delivery for the lower level family room and a couple other pieces. I need to decide what pictures/decor I am going to put in the bedrooms. Waiting on some blinds and bedding. There is still landscaping that has to be done… Hmmm….after writing that list I’m wondering what the heck I’ve been doing?!?!

Anyway, there is an end in site and it will be so worth it. 🤞🏽

The water gun fights are one of the highlights of 4th of July Weekend on Lake Camelot. This year we came prepared with big guns! What a blast!!! I think this operator needs a lesson on how to work the water gun! Lol

Breakfast on the screened in porch with beautiful lake views…such a perfect way to start the day. We’ve been busy the last two days. Made a HUGE TJ Maxx and Target haul, had the living room set delivered (and rearranged it 20 times 😂), met with a landscaper, had the AC unit fixed, and prepped the basement for painting. 😅

Today we will be painting. My dad is coming to put shelves in the closets. The bedrooms are small so we decided to only get beds and night stands and no dressers. I plan to add shelves and storage baskets in the closets for guests to put their clothes.

Plan to work here today and tomorrow and then head over to Queen of Camelot for the weekend. The weather is supposed to be beautiful! Looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the water with family and friends.

We had a very productive weekend! Tony took down a crap ton of old security cameras throughout the house. We got a lot of cleaning and painting done. And we did some shopping too and found a few really unique pieces for the house! We ended the weekend last night with pizza from and a gorgeous sunset! No bed frames yet but the mattresses were delivered yesterday and we actually slept great on the mattresses on the floor. Tony had to head home early this morning to go to work but I am staying all week. The carpet cleaner should be here any minute, living room furniture scheduled for delivery tomorrow, and internet installation on Thursday. Things are coming together!!!!

I’ve spent this week getting services in our name for the new place, ordering furniture, mattresses, kitchen items, linens…and….the list goes on and on. I can’t wait until things start arriving so I can begin putting everything together! It’s exciting to transform a space and make it your own!

This weekend we will be busy cleaning, filling nail holes, painting, installing Ring security cameras, adding a keyless entry door lock, among other things.

Getting these properties ready is a lot of work but so rewarding!

Well, New Years weekend was the first time so far that both places have been booked at the same time! The summer months are filling up fast but I am hoping that things pick up for Winter/Spring too.

I took all my Christmas decorations down yesterday. It always feels so bare but it also feels refreshing. Cheers to 2022!
