Day 3 & 4 Textiles, Temples & Traditions Group Journey to India - 31 Jan - 15 Feb 2025 🌸

🛤 Day 3: Journey to Agra

Today, we hit the road to Agra, a 4-hour drive filled with anticipation. For lunch, we’ll stop at Sheroes Hangout, a café managed by courageous female survivors of acid attacks. This initiative offers these incredible women the chance to rebuild their lives and connect with the community.

We’ll visit the majestic 17th century marvel Taj Mahal at sunset, I can confirm I’ve visited it before and it is incredible!

Agra has an amazing food scene. A local expert will take us on a street food tour in the evening, showing us some culinary gems often missed by tourists!

🏰 Day 4: Explore Agra & Journey to Jaipur

We start the day at Agra Fort, a red sandstone fortress, as well as one of India’s finest forts built in 1565.

We then hit the road and drive to Jaipur, the vibrant ‘Pink City’ of Rajasthan. Known for its colourful buildings, Jaipur is a celebration of traditional arts, crafts, and architecture. Our leader-led walking tour will navigate through bustling streets filled with cars, camel carts, rickshaws, and bicycles. We’ll encounter traditionally dressed Rajput men in colourful turbans and magnificent moustaches, immersing ourselves in the rich culture and history of this splendid city.

Textiles, Temples & Traditions Group Journey to India - 31 Jan - 15 Feb 2025 🌸

✨ Day 1 ✨We begin in Dehli, Indias lively capital, strap in!! Our first day we spend arriving, getting transferred to our hotel, spending some time relaxing and recovering from our flight before we head out with our local tour leader for a beautiful Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant

✨Day 2✨We start the day with a a visit to the National Crafts Museum to get acquainted with the rich and diverse practicing crafts and weaving traditions of India. The museum’s collection consists of over 29,000 specimens in various crafts, acquired over a period of 70 years from different states of India 🇮🇳

We’ll enjoy a beautiful lunch at a delicious café before venturing out to Old Delhi, wandering through alleyways and experiencing a Cycle Rickshaw Ride through the chaotic streets, including the famous Chandni Chowk.
We’ll visit the Jama Masjid, Delhi’s oldest mosque and one of its most impressive buildings, followed by a visit to the Sheeshganj Gurudwara (Sikh Temple) to learn about the Sikh religion 🍚🪷🥘🕌

Our day continues with a tour of the famous spice market, Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest wholesale spice market. This place is crazy and chaotic from the moment the sun rises. The rest of the day will then be free for you to enjoy 🌶️

There will be an evening gentle yoga class for those who wish to wind down after a day of being stimulated in Delhi! 💕

Barichara you are so charming! A picturesque town filled with cobblestone streets, colorful colonial architecture, and breathtaking views of the Andes.

Time is being spent strolling through the historic center, visiting the local Artisians, and enjoying the local cuisine (arepas, anyone?). This quaint little town is one of those ones that will have you stay longer than you expected!

Something I love doing on holidays is engaging with local artisans. It provides opportunity to gain deeper understanding of the culture and traditions of where I am, as often there are historical, social and cultural elements incorporated into their crafts.

It’s also awesome as it supports local communities, their economy and the preservation of their craft. Most artisans use locally sourced materials which also helps with environmental sustainability, something that is important in a world where most things are mass produced.

This week I had the pleasure of visiting, Laureano, a local artisan, in Raquira. Laureano has been a ceramicist for over 40 years. We spent hours together learning about his work, his processes, how to filter clay and learning where it comes from - right in his home town in Raquira!

Thanks for a wonderful day Laureano ✨🏺

Green, green and more green up in the clouds of Minca, Colombia. A quiet village surrounded by lush rivers, waterfalls, rainforest, hummingbirds, cacao and coffee plantations, mangos and avocados to eat off the ground and warm people.

I’m taking it slow, spending about a week in each place, choosing one thing to do each day and that being enough. Today is was a small hike to this waterfall and now laying around at home watching the heavens open.

Travel doesnt need to be jam packed to be fulfilling and nourishing, in fact I find that is when you hear people saying they need a holiday after a holiday! In my opinion, less is more on the road (insert giant big exhale).

I’d love to know, what’s your ideal pace when you have your Dora the explorer hat (or Diego) on? 🐍🌿🥑🐛🦜🥭

What a place to land and be held on arrival into Colombia - the food, the silence amidst the noise of nature, the kind hearts and smiles, the massage. It was a beautiful week spent in the jungle at .madre , an eco tourism project in the beautiful Santa Marta region in the north of Colombia. A place to rest your bones - truly a big, giant exhale ✨🌱

What’s your travel style?

The reason why I ask is that this is such an important piece of information for a travel advisor.

Do you like adventure and lots of things to do all day? Or do you like a slow pace where you can focus on and immerse yourself in one thing? Do you like luxury accommodations or are you willing to prioritize and spend on other aspects of the trip?

I, for example, am the type of traveler who likes travelling slow, with few plans and likes comfortable eco boutique accommodation with healthy food options close by. I love a holiday that allows me to be still and comfortable, take care and recharge myself and immerse myself in local culture.

As you think about what you truly want your travels to be like this year, take a minute to make a list of what’s truly important to you when you travel.

This will help you to get clear about which trips you want to prioritise this year, and which ones maybe aren’t as important or you may not truly want on your travel wish list at all.

And this also helps me as I collaborate with you to make sure your travels are ticking the boxes!

Just off the coast of Bali, a 2 hour ferry ride (i recommend flying) is Lombok and it’s spectacular! This natural paradise is definitely worth a trip to experience something different than Bali. The island has some idyllic spots you won’t want to miss, including Kuta (and surrounds), Sengiggi and the famous Mt Rinjani! If you are a lover of the sea, surfing, delicious food, waterfalls, yoga and relaxing into a slower pace, i highly recommend Lombok. Sit back and relax and enjoy amazing views just like this one (i've sat here myself and can highly recommend)!

Happy Gulungan day from Bali 🌸

Galungan is a Balinese holiday which celebrates the victory of dharma over adharma (the triumph of good over evil). It marks the time when ancestral spirits of deceased relatives visit the Earth. The last day of the celebration is Kuningan, when they leave earth. The spirits of deceased relatives return to visit their former homes and the Balinese have a responsibility to be hospitable and welcoming to their past ancestors through prayers and offerings throughout their home. It is a day to remind themselves of the long lineage of their ancestors and beautiful story they are a part of. The Balinese reconnect and renew their commitment to trying to make tomorrow a better day, trying to make themselves better each day.

All week I have been witnessing the making of Penjors and an abundance of offerings all around. It was a blessing to pray with the local family where I am staying earlier today. What a special time to be on this magical island 💛🌴

Running a retreat is amazing and can bring so much wonderful healing to those who join 🪷

Lets be real though, they can be a lot of work to organise. From designing your retreat and its purpose, the itinerary and inclusions, venue scouting, catering, pricing, booking, logistics and then running the retreat, yep, there’s a lot to think about.

If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed and not sure where to start, it can be useful to engage a retreat planner to relieve some stress.

If that’s you, get in touch and lets carve your baby out ✨

Why a travel advisor? I’ve popped a few of my favourite ‘why’ tips together.

My favourite - time and stress savings (the others are pretty great too). Let’s be honest, we live in a pretty busy world. Planning a trip can be time consuming and stressful at the best of times, especially if you don’t do it very often. As Tim Ferris says, outsource where you can!

If you’re planning a holiday but the planning just isn’t really happening… at all… come say hi, I can help!
