Get to know a bit more about the Storytelling Club! Every Saturday, for the past year, we have held our sessions at the Gilgil Junior Library - a community Library based in Bondeni. Bondeni is a vulnerable area in the community where a lot of families struggle to make ends meet. By creating a space where children are encouraged to read, create and express themselves we hope to empower them with skills, tools and inspiration. We do so by having storytelling sessions, and different classes including arts, music, dance, gardening and much more. Our biggest goals are to encourage a love for books and reading, improve literacy and early childhood development and support self expression. There are a range of ages, from as young as 3 years, up to 16 years, and between 50 to 100 children in attendance during each session.

We are so grateful to look back on a really special year, that wouldn't have been possible without the most wonderful and passionate team and volunteers! We are also accepting valued donations of much needed learning resources and books for the Junior Library, and as we approach Christmas, gifts for the kids (toys, clothes, books). All support goes such a long way, and means so much! So please do not hesitate to reach out. [email protected]

Good news for elephant lovers! 🐘🌍 Thanks to dedicated conservation efforts, Kenya's elephant population has grown by more than 250% since 1989! Back then, the country had just 16,000 elephants, but today that number stands strong at over 36,000 and rising. Let's keep protecting these gentle giants for future generations! 🇰🇪🐘

Last Saturday's Story Telling Club was so much fun! We were joined by our wonderful friends from Pembroke House School , and all the kids got to share some of their favourite stories. We were also blessed to have Shanty, Alex, Larry and Victor volunteer their time to read to the kids, as well as teach them art! ❤

It was all smiles at Wine’s first Post Harvest Chill, held at Morendat Farm. Guests got to take a tour of the gorgeous vineyard, do some wine tasting and pairing, enjoy live music as well as interact with some of Kenya’s beloved local brands.

We are excited to announce our first official project, in partnership with the Nakuru County Government; an initiative that is very dear to our hearts - the “Story Telling Club” at Gilgil Public Library! 📚 This project encourages the love of reading, learning the art of self expression and all in all being a safe, kind space for kids!

KOBE KENYA is a gap year and volunteer program based in the Rift Valley, Kenya. It is a young program , however , the KOBE team are a group of professionals that have had experience in this field for over 10 years.

Volunteers can choose from a variety of subjects to teach at local schools. They will also be involved in community projects aimed at sustainability, eco-friendly practices and awareness. During their stay their home will be the beautiful Eagles Point Camp which is located right beside Lake Elementaita.
