Sundays was for this activity in Savannah. And sometimes you jumped over a fence and landed on such a thick thorn. The pain was excruciating. Amd there's no other English word would describe this.
If the thorn came off and the foot started bleeding, your mother or elder brother would squeeze it hard or pick a stick and started to hit it. Spitting some saliva occasionally and hitting it more. Very painful. You felt it here. At the neck.
But the sweetest time to remove a thorn is when it had developed pus and the thorn was beginning to itch in a sweet way. You won't understand if you are not Savannah made.
At this point, you just squeeze the opening, the thorn pops out, you removed and put it inside your hair as you continued draining the pus. And life went on. Placing the thorn thick inside your hair was to make you wealthy and have many cows in future. Or you just chew it! City people just said "Yuck!"
