Hunting Sitatunga involves a lot of preparation and sometimes you just have to go with your gut and explore new territories. The whole process of the hunt makes the reward so much greater when you finally succeed!

This year in an effort to be more environmentally friendly we went totally “PLASTIC FREE” in each of our camps.
set up a UV water purifying system in all our camps so that we can bottle our own drinking water. We also went back to recyclable glass bottles for all our soft drinks. It’s the little things that make the difference!

Every once in a while something truly spectacular pops out of the woods. With proper management we are still getting results every bit as good … and in some cases even better than we did 30 years ago!

Admiring the incredible hooves of this beautiful old Sitatunga bull. These amazing creatures are so well adapted to life in the swamps, with long splayed hooves that allow them to walk on the floating grass as though it was solid ground.
The diversity of wildlife in Luganzo Game Reserve is truly remarkable.

has just returned from a safari in yesterday. The area is looking outstanding beautiful after the rains with game everywhere! We were encouraged to find 7 bull elephants enjoying the fresh green grass. Our hunting areas help preserve their traditional migratory routes and help to form between the nearby protected areas such as Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks.

Robin Hurt & the team releasing a zebra found in a snare line. In the early days in Maswa Game Reserve we would find snare lines that could be several kilometers long. They were responsible for the deaths of hundreds / thousands of animals each year. This unselective form of meat poaching would also catch multiple predators such as lions and hyena as well as the intended game meat species. These snares were removed and burnt, so the wire couldn’t be re-used. These days our anti-poaching teams will find just a handful of snares each year, thanks to the great efforts of our field units over the years.

“Fly Camping” is often one of the highlights of a hunting safari, and when you have over 1.5 Million acres to explore, it can lead to some great hunting opportunities in less explored territories. If you’re going to do it … you might as well do it in style!

This was an award for the oldest warrior of a buffalo taken under the most challenging of circumstances. It embodies everything that in my opinion hunting should be about. The search for adventure and the oldest possible quarry. We were honored to have .hurt.namibia selected as on of the judges, as well as several entries from clients of featured. Over the past month has been exploring our new Masailand concession called in preparation for our first guests at the end of the month. It is fair to say that we are extremely excited about this area, and so far … it has not disappointed! It has some of the most stunning and varied landscape and a huge variety of wildlife to go with it. Derek has been in his element … opening roads into new untouched territories, deciding on a location to build our brand new tented camp. I will be sharing more photos over the coming weeks, but here is a glimpse of what this area holds.
