Such a treat to have my oldest friends to stay.They summited our local Munro, arrived back at our home victorious a day early and delved into the famous Mitumba market in Nanyuki. Turkana expeditions are truly special, unique, rugged, remote and taking you to the end of the world. North Kenya is suffering from a terrible drought right now but as soon as things ease off after the rain later this year we hope to run a couple of expeditions to Lake Turkana and the Chalbi desert again. Only for the right people who will understand the beauty in this harsh landscape and love seeing the incredible people living amongst it.
Wild dogs are amazing to encounter, not just because of how rare they are but because they are incredible operators. Working as a pack, they are the most effective hunters, killing machines one minute, whining, greeting, rolling on their backs with paws in the air the next. Last month I was asked to organize a black leopard mission for The Times, with the delightful Kate Humble back on safari in search of this illusive creature. captured Giza beautifully throughout the week as well as several normal spotty leopards in various dramatic poses! The wild dogs of Laikipia had to make an appearance just to remind everyone they are still amazing, even if not melanistic! tailored the trip in partnership with who kindly flew the team up to Laikipia. Huge thanks to the guides at camp who tirelessly tracked the stars day and night.
We made it to the travel section of The Times in GB this weekend.
