Ask most Kenyans which is the tallest waterfall in Kenya and most will say Thomson falls, perhaps due to the fact that it's easily accessible being in a town and very much publicized. The title actually goes to Karuru falls, towering at 270m and located in the aberdares. Top notch beauty being sorrounded by moorland vegetation, only found in very high altitude. Perfect for nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts and birdwatchers. Follow RoamingNomads254 for more

if you are hiker andsteep trails excite you, the Seven Ponds hike will exhilarate you. Located conveniently between the notoriously steep Table Mountain and Rurimeria trails, the Seven Ponds trail combines the dramatic steepness of her two siblings. It delivers a breathtaking trek across the golden moorland leading to the seven ponds. The 5.5km trail starts near Mikeu center and ends at an elevation of 3,831m at the seven natural ponds in the northern Nyandarua moorland. Barely 2hrs away from Nairobi and the sweat is balanced by the immense beauty of the ponds and the aberdares themselves.

For anyone visiting the coast for the first time, the ocean and it's beach are the main things in their bucketlist, but what they don't know is that the coast also holds it's own share if hidden gems. Mtwapa heritage site, barely known of or explored, under museums of Kenya, is a good example. Explore the beauty of the dense forest with towering exotic trees, the ruins and definitely the wildlife, monkeys to be precise

On our journey exploring Samburu county, we get to one of my favorite spots ever experienced. Am quite sure that most of my followers have never heard of this, but it happens to be top viewpoint of the great RiftValley, and it goes by Malaso viewpoint, Samburu. Details in the comment section. Kindly follow my page, Roaming Nomads for more of these.
The place is also well known as the Worlds end viewpoint, once one get the chance to explore, then the alias becomes self explanatory. Put aside the view point past Limuru or the Subukia one, this literally takes your breath away.. For one to access it, public transport is extremely not applicable, I do suggest self drive, where on has to get to Mararal town, then branch off towards Baragoi via Poro to Malaso.
The road climbed high into the podocarpus forests of the Samburu National Reserve before dropping to the Lopet Plateau and the Elbarta Plains.

Twenty kilometres from Maralal, we took a detour through Poro, and 6km later we were at the dramatic scimitar edge of Losiolo Escarpment. The escarpment is part of the Malaso ecotourism project, and is commonly referred to as Malaso. We were charged Ksh200 ($2) as a viewing fee to support the locals who take care of the area.
Malaso’s Losiolo escarpment is just not an ordinary escarpment, it is a colossal amphitheatre that drops down more than 2,000 metres.

At the edge of what is one of the most dramatic viewpoints of the Great Rift Valley lies the most spectacular panoramic views I have ever seen. The Losiolo escarpment plunges down to form gorges, peaks, plains which form the Suguta Valley and beyond that on the horizon is a very faint blue that is Lake Turkana. Across the left of the escarpment is a very faint range of Hills which we are told is Cherangani Hills.

It is barricaded with a steel barrier to prevent people from falling over the edge.

Sunsets and sunrises at Malaso are a sight to behold. The place has become a paradise for landscape photographers, bird watchers and hikers.
The two-hour hike down the escarpment is especially worthwhile in the company of guides along the breath-taking cliffs and down to the valley floor.
It is best to do the walks on Saturday, when there is a traditional market being held where Pokot and Samburu trade agricultural produce and animals

. Eliye springs is best described as a beach paradise. A gem not many know of but worth the experience. Turkana is home to part of Lake Turkana and unlike the Marsabit side which is rocky, Eliye Springs side is all sandy beaches by its shores. A visit to Turkana Land would be incomplete without venturing there so go on, visit. There is so much to experience and engage in.
I like my beach having very few people and I like my beach being clean. The beaches along Lake Turkana offer this and more, as they are not only super clean-no shrugging off twigs and sea w**d as you swim, but also, it feels like one is on his/her little private island. One has so much beach available to themselves to fully and freely explore.
In some parts, the sand is brown while in others it is off white. I hear there are even other areas that are sparkling, bleach white that I will seek out on my trips. It is also fascinating with how at some places, the edge where the waters would meet the beach, is a stretch of what looks like black sand that shimmers in the sun. I was informed that the black is remnants of lava flow from the active central islands found on the lake but I am yet to confirm if that is true.

Settler Mansions-Gibbs House
It's located in Wanjohi Ward, Kipipiri Constituency. It stands at the foothills of the Aberdare Ranges, about three kilometres from Rironi trading centre on the Njabini-Ol Kalou road.
The house was once home of Alistair Gibb (a cousin of Lady Delamere) whose Father Alexander Gibb owned the construction company (Alexander Gibb & Partners)-founded in 1922 by the noted Scottish Civil Engineer, Sir Alexander Gibb.

This imposing mansion sits on three acres of land and features large rooms with wooden flooring, made of red cedar.

It has a steeply sloping shingles roof, with six chimneys popping out of the main building and an additional chimney on an extension of the building.

The wooden pillars on its backyard porches and the white plaster on the walls have maintained their integrity over the years.

Tufts of moss have grown on parts of the shingled roof, otherwise, the roof is excellent. A few cracks on parts of the wall betray its age but save for that, the walls are good as new.

Today, cattle and sheep from neighbouring families graze on the lush grassland surrounding the house, wending their way around the stinging nettles abounding the grassland.

The unending splash of water cascading down a scenic waterfall directly above in the Aberdare is one of the soothing dividends of a visit to this house.

One can also venture into the nearby wild for a walk up the Aberdare, and to Mau Mau caves, where one can sample the abundant birdlife and colobus monkeys.
