We are partnering with an exciting new concept designed to offer guests a truly immersive experience. Kitchen In The Wild is a series of hosted culinary events taking place in some of the world’s most awe-inspiring and remote locations. Offering the opportunity to connect with a destination in a meaningful way, these retreats see a small number of guests gather for five nights of expert cooking demonstrations, feasting and foraging, craft workshops, outdoor adventures and unparalleled access to wildlife via local guides.
The first of these remarkable events takes place in October 2025 in the soul-stirring landscapes of Laikipia, Kenya. Hosted at El Karama Lodge and Wildlife Conservancy , in the foothills of Mt Kenya, an intimate privately owned safari lodge built and run by renowned wildlife sculptor Murray Grant and his wife Sophie. With a passion for conservation and a sustainable food ethos reflected in the on-site organic vegetable gardens, beef farm and dairy; El Karama presents an intriguing natural larder for the chefs to draw their inspiration.
Kitchen In The Wild is co-hosted by the charismatic Valentine Warner, acclaimed chef, food writer and broadcaster and a cherry-picked selection of top chefs, along with skilled artists and artisans, it’s an extraordinary opportunity to join world class creatives in the wilderness. Joining Valentine are Mexican born chef Santiago Lastra who's restaurant KOL is ranked no. 17 on the World’s 50 Best list (and the highest in the UK), prolific London chef and restaurateur Jackson Boxer, bartender extraordinaire Nick Strangeway, internationally acclaimed animator and model maker Jim Parkyn (whose creations include Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep for Aardman Animations) and botanist, guide and author Anne Powys, one of Kenya’s foremost experts in the indigenous plants of East Africa.
