"Our guide had just been informed about a large pride of lions nearby, so we ventured through the crazy downpour to find them. We came to a slight opening in the shrubs, and there sat these two male lions beside each other. Their manes were soaked, which could only mean one thing...they would perform the typical mane shake. We must have sat there for close to an hour, for at least one of them to do it. It was a surreal experience being so close to them whilst getting absolutely drenched in the rain."

"When travelling across the plain, we saw this beautiful bird, one of the clean-up committee perched on a ribcage in the rising sunlight. The view gave a lovely rim light to the ribs and the bird. I enjoy the incongruousness of the image. Seeing it made me feel a bit sad, but it also made me feel appreciative of the beauty that can be found even in moments of death."

"In a landscape like the Mara, shade can sometimes be hard to come by. The trees can be few and far between and the tall grass is often not enough to create shade for cheetahs to get enough shade to avoid overheating midday. We were lucky enough to come across this cheetah taking a moment to rest under the shade of a tree, as it got up to continue on I captured this image as the cheetah stepped into the light. While it's normally not optimal to shoot under harsh lighting conditions, I felt like the illuminated cheetah in contrast with the long shadow of the tree created a great dramatic contrast."
