The Shelley's Francolin is frequently found in grassland areas and open acacia savannas within the local region. It displays distinct characteristics, such as its belly being prominently marked with black bars and its wings exhibiting a rufous color during flight. The sides of its head showcase a tawny buff shade with postocular lines that are black-flecked and widen as they reach the neck.

The Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove is a common but inconspicuous resident of drier savanna and thickets. It is described as a small, dainty, pinkish-fawn, ground-dwelling dove with an all-dark bill and two rows of iridescent green spots on the wing. In flight it reveals bright rufous wings and three grey bands: two across the back and one across the tail.

Topi is a medium­-sized antelope with a striking reddish-brown to purplish-red coat with distinct black patches on their face, upper forelegs, hips and thighs. They only eat grass using their narrow muzzle that is well-adapted for selecting the most tender growth. They graze for a while and then rest and chew their cud before continuing feeding. Females have developed the ability to stall the labor process if they sense immediate danger.

The African Darter is commonly found in freshwater wetlands, preferring placid to fast flowing waters. It is also called the snakebird. Males have a rusty neck and a white stripe running from the eye down the side of the head, which is duller when not breeding. Females and juveniles are muted and brown.

The Pin-tailed Whydah is a small, gregarious, species found in wide variety of open habitats including agricultural fields, parks, and gardens. The glorious adult male is unmistakable with its long tail and bright reddish bill. In nonbreeding , both male and female have streaks on the sides of the upper chest, a boldly striped head, an orange-pink bill, and dark legs. In breeding plumage, the bill of female is dusky. Juveniles are dull brown overall. Like other whydahs and , the Pin-tailed Whydah is an obligate brood parasite, but unlike the others, it does not rely exclusively on a single target species, and it is by far the commonest and most widely distributed member of its family.

When perched, their stance is upright with the tail pointing downward.

International Zebra Day aims to help raise awareness about the living conditions of zebras and how their numbers can be protected from further decline. They are mostly found on the African continent; and are easily identifiable by their unique black and white stripes. Here are more fun facts about Zebras;
• A group of Zebras is called a dazzle
• There are three types of zebra; the Grévy’s zebra, plains zebra, and the mountain zebra.
• The Grévy’s zebra, found in the northern regions of Kenya and are extremely rare and they are an endangered species. Their population has gone down by about 54% over the past three decades, according to the African Wildlife Foundation.
• Their stripes help them blend in grassland habitat
• Zebra stripes are unique because, what fingerprints are to humans, stripes are to zebras.
• Zebra foals can stand up as early as six minutes after they’ve been born
• Zebras can run at a speed of 40 miles per hour.
• They can sleep standing up and also while lying down too.

The Grey-headed Kingfisher is a medium-sized kingfisher with a distinctive chestnut belly, sapphire blue tail and flight feathers, ashy-grey head and breast, and vermillion bill. Pairs can be found in dry and moist woodland, especially in riverine woodland; and have been known to breed in riverbanks.

Rufous-crowned Roller is a robust bird that prefers dry habitat and spends long periods perched at the top of thorn trees or poles, looking out for food on the ground. Also known as the Purple roller, it has a strong billed roller with a rufous crown bordered by white superciliary stripes extending to the nape. As compared with other rollers its colours are rather dull. It has purplish brown face and underpants that have white streaks and a square-tipped tail.
