Srae Y eco-village in Mondulkiri Province have been launching a chicken-egg hatching test coordinated by Caritas Cambodia in purpose to supply 21-day-old chicks for chicken broiler in its community. This is the first initiation to change community behavior on chicken raising for constant income and food security.
Why can a chick producer improve community behavior on chicken raising in the community?
Of course, chick producer is a key business person to improve with the following reasons below:
1) the chicks are properly vaccinated before being distributed to broiler members, which can make the broiler members get good results
2) Raising period is specific for farmers to apply based on the economic calendar
3) Applying techniques is not complicated as old chicken raising model
4) Easy to collaborate with chicken buyers

Bunong Indigenous Ecotour and culture experience is situated in Srae Y Community projects where Caritas Cambodia founded and has been working since 2017, with the mission to help Bunong Indigenous Children to have access to hire education. The concept was initiated by Ministry of Environment and supported to implement by Caritas Cambodia. The most priority project was the construction of Primary School and promote Community Economic Development Program that will provides alternate of sustainable income to villagers and encourage local farmers to actively participated in protecting of natural resources, stop poaching, logging and land clearance.

Slowly and surely in 2019, Ecotourism project has been actively implementing by community people and CPA committee (Community Protected Area) with technical support from Caritas Cambodia. This project was designed to contribute to the Project Measure for Adaptation to Climate Change, and involvement of various stakeholders such as Provincial Department of Environment (DoE), Provincial Department of Tourism and Community Protected Area(CPA). Community people and local authorities, had illustrated that the real need is to improve community’s livelihood and link it with natural resource management. To be precisely and gain more profitable and sustainable income, local community and different stakeholders will be encouraged to be part of Ecotour and Venture Project.

What we want to see: Srae Y – Numpum is not only an eco-tourism but it is a community market for the people to get income through providing eco-tourism services and sell local agriculture products.

Through Integrated Community Development of Indigenous People project, community members were provided one training course on chick vaccinating and feeding to strengthen their capacity and promote them to increase their chicken production.
