𝓢𝓲𝓮𝓶 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓹 𝓞𝓵𝓭 𝓜𝓪𝓻𝓴𝓮𝓽 , Do you know about it?

It is one of the first Siem Reap attractions one should visit to find souvenirs and traditional Khmer goods. It's set in a great location right in the heart of town, and is the main shopping spot for locals and tourists alike, and also the hub of Siem Reap activity. It's a bustling market which draws many tourists simply to come and take a wander through the interesting food stalls (you may have to hold your nose at times!) or otherwise find some great traditional Cambodian wares in the way of clothing, souvenirs, hand carved ornaments or stone furniture. In the morning the locals will rush around the corridors with produce for the day - the earlier you get there the fresher the food will be.

Around the old market there are many cafes, bars and restaurants to rest your tired feet after wondering through the narrow corridors and bargaining with stubborn sellers!

𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓂𝓊𝒸𝒽 𝒹𝑜𝑒𝓈 𝒶 𝓋𝒾𝓈𝒾𝓉 𝒸𝑜𝓈𝓉?
There is no cost to see the market of course, it's when you start trying on clothes and imagining the mantelpiece back home with unique Khmer ornaments that you may start spending your hard-earned dollars. Prices are very cheap compared to back home, but it depends how much you want to buy...

When should I go, and how long do I need?
Early in the morning to get a taste of a Cambodian market in full swing setting up for a day's trading, otherwise any time of the day is great to wander through the market. Around half an hour would suffice to soak up the atmosphere and nose around the variety of stalls.

What else can I see?
The market is in the center of town so there's too much to mention! If you're new to Siem Reap, after seeing the market few things in life are more pleasant than a day spent simply strolling along the river, lunch in town and a visit to some nearby Pagodas.. Angkorian Tours

𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐎'𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐤 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞: The longest and largest ancient bridge in Cambodia, left since the time of the Angkorian Empire, but not as attractive as the Kampong Kdei Bridge (Preah Tis Bridge).
Trop Bridge or Ochik Bridge is located in Cheung Tien Village, Cheung Tien Commune, Chong Kal District, Oddar Meanchey Province, which is located on the border of Siem Reap Province. This bridge is an ancient bridge made of almost laterite, except for the dragon railings and the sandstone pedestals. Today, only part of the dragon recipe and pedestal remains. Some bridge piers have been severely damaged.
The Army Bridge or Ochik Bridge is about 149 meters long, 15.50 meters wide, about 10 meters high from the ground and 35 drainage holes built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII between the 12th century and 13th century AD This bridge is considered to be the longest of the more than 100 ancient bridges discovered in Cambodia.

BANTEAY KDEI.............................
Banteay Kdei is the final and smallest of the three temples. We don’t know exactly when it was completed, however. Unlike the other two, there was no stele found at the site. It’s probably safe to say, though, that this temple was dedicated to the Buddha himself, thus completing the divine trinity of Jayavarman VII’s unique brand of Buddhism.

As the two Bodhisattva’s had been identified with the king’s parents at the other temples, many scholars believe that the Buddha enshrined here probably would’ve been identified with Jayavarman VII himself. Judging from the language used in the prior inscriptions, he was far from being a modest king.

Structurally, Banteay Kdei is a lot like the other two, but on a slightly smaller scale. Visitors walk along a causeway before encountering a Hall of Dancers, which then leads to a similar layout to what we’ve seen previously. Some of the outer satellite structures are lacking, however.

Due to the temple’s relative obscurity compared to Ta Prohm and Preah Khan, Banteay Kdei receives hardly any visitors. The lack of tour groups, many visitors discover, is reason enough to spend at least a half an hour here.

But, as we’ll go over below, this temple, for a very long time, also harbored another secret that was only discovered at the end of the 20th century.

Like the other two triad temples, Banteay Kdei was originally a monastic complex. What’s more surprising is that, despite the temple’s dilapidated state, monks even continued to reside here up until the 1960’s!

Walking through the temple complex, it can be a fun little game to see if you can find any carvings of the Buddha that haven’t been etched out. As you may have already noticed, images of the Buddha have been vandalized at nearly all of Jayavarman VII’s temples. At some point after his reign, the Hindu Shaivite sect regained control, with large-scale desecration happening at all Buddhist temples.

But why? For most of its history, Mahayana Buddhism had been tolerated and even encouraged by Khmer monarchs. For centuries, it coexisted side by side with Hinduism without any issues. While nobody’s certain, scholars believe that Jayavarman VII may have taken things a little too far with promoting the Buddhist divinities over the Hindu ones.

At a number of his temples, Banteay Kdei included, carvings were made of the Hindu gods Brahma and Vishnu worshipping the Buddha! Typically, Shiva had taken this central spot in similar carvings. Replacing Shiva with the Buddha, then, may have been considered sacrilege by the Brahmin priesthood.

While the Hindu Jayavarman VIII often gets blamed, evidence suggests that he was actually rather tolerant of Buddhism. The vandalism, then, probably occurred just before his reign, or sometime during it but probably against his wishes.

Just as carvings had been etched out, Buddha images were also beheaded. As was discovered by Sophia University researchers in the 1990’s, parts of 274 different Buddha images were even buried near Banteay Kdei’s entrance. The burials were likely carried out by monks and not the vandals, as the fragments appear to have been carefully laid to rest.

The carving art of Ta Prohm Temple, ................................................
Stegosaurus was a type of plant-eating dinosaur which lived in what is now western North America.

Stegosaurus lived in the Upper Jurassic period around 155 to 145 million years ago. It is one of the most easily recognized dinosaurs, with its distinctive double row of kite-shaped plates on its back, and the long spikes on its tail. The armor was necessary as it lived with such meat-eaters as Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus.

In Cambodia where we discovered of one animal as Stegosaurus
These awesome temples were rediscovered by Portuguese adventurers and Catholic missionaries in the 16th century and many were restored in 19th and 20th centuries. Ta Prohm, one of the most picturesque, was left in it's natural state. It recently gained international attention as the setting for the first Laura Croft movie.

At the corner formed by the elaborate front entrance and the front wall is a ten-foot column covered with these decorative circles.

The Mutualart of Cambodia, ..............................................
The Cambodian in 13th Century comprised a group of artists active in this region in the period. Works identified as being by this group appear regularly at auction. Since 2017 the record price for this artist at auction is big earing in USD for CAMBODIA - Angkorian period, Bayon, 12th/13th century Large crowned head in gray sandstone. With his eyes almost closed and his head bowed in a meditative attitude, he wears heavy earrings and a tiara tied at the back of his head, decorated with several registers: friezes of rhombuses and fleurons alternating with friezes of pearls.

Kun Khmer is originally from Cambodia. ......................................
Kun Khmer is an athletic sport that relies on agility, toughness and flexibility. Most participants are young adults due to the physical conditioning that a boxer must endure to keep their body in shape. The average age ranges from 14 to 25. Most Cambodian boxers come from a poor background and compete to earn money to feed their families and themselves. Top kickboxers can have as many as 200–300 fights in their careers.

The story of Kun Khmer starts with the Khmer Empire. The Khmer Empire was founded in 802 A.D. at a time when many modern Southeast Asian countries didn't exist yet. Martial arts were used by the military of the Khmer Empire. Kun Khmer has its root from the hand-to-hand combat use by the military of the Khmer Empire. In the Angkor era, both armed and unarmed martial arts were practiced by the Khmers. Evidence shows that a style resembling Kun Khmer existed in the 9th century, which may be one of the reasons why the Khmer Empire was such a military powerhouse in Southeast Asia. The Khmer Empire used an early form of Kun Khmer along with various weapons and war elephants to wage war against their main enemy, the principalities of Champa.

Carving from the 12th-century Ta Prohm temple depicting two individuals clinch fighting and a knee strike. At this time, the Khmer Empire dominated and controlled most of what is now Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and parts of Vietnam. As a result, Cambodia has influenced much of Thai and Lao culture. This leads the Khmer to assert all Southeast Asian forms of boxing started with the early Mon-Khmer people. The basis of this statement is oral stories from their ancestors supplemented with the bas-reliefs/stone carving in the ancient temples of the Bayon, Banteay Chhmar and other Angkor temples that predate the existence of neighboring nations. Much of the writing on ancient Khmer art has been destroyed by the invading Thai armies when the Siamese sacked and looted Angkor.

Conclusion:
Kun Khmer is a combat sport that originated in Cambodia. The official Khmer name of the sport is Kbach Kun Pradal Khmer, It means the fighting or boxing and serey means free. Thus, pradal serey may be translated as "free fighting" or "free boxing". The sport consists of stand up striking and clinch fighting where the objective is to knock an opponent out, force a technical knockout, or win a match by points. The martial art was codified in Cambodia by the French colonial administration in the early 20th century and derives from centuries-old traditions, namely Bokator, the close-quarter combat used during the Khmer empire. Kun Khmer is most well known for its kicking technique, which generates power from hip rotation rather than snapping the leg. Kun Khmer consists of four types of strikes: punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes. The clinch is used to wear down the opponent. In the clinch, opponents battle for dominant position for short range strikes by way of elbows and knees. Cambodian fighters tend to utilize more elbow strikes than that of other martial arts in the region. In Kun Khmer, more victories come by way of an elbow technique than any other strikes.

Spirit House means in Cambodia .....................................
In Cambodia, the most common offering are fruits (e.g. banana, orange, grape; some people even offer different fruits at the same time.) In neighbouring Thailand however, it is a long-standing tradition to leave offerings of food and drink at the spirit house. Rice, bananas, coconuts, and desserts are common offerings. Most ubiquitous is red, strawberry-flavoured Fanta.[15] The idea seems to be that friendly spirits will congregate to enjoy free food and drink and their presence will serve to keep more malign spirits at bay. The popularity of red Fanta offerings has existed for decades. Opinions as to "why Fanta?" vary. Most point to the significance of the colour red, reminiscent of animal sacrifice, or perhaps related to the practice of anchoring red incense sticks in a glass of water which promptly tints the water red. Sweetness is explained by the observation that sweet spirits naturally have sweet tooths.

The Spirit Houses of Cambodia,
Spirit houses come from the tradition of keeping spirits housed and happy, whether they are spirits of nature or spirits of ancestors. These miniature temples are often erected at the entrance of almost any type of private houses or public buildings in Cambodia. You cannot miss them!

Spirit houses are often constructed to be a miniature roofed structure that’s affixed on a pillar. Like real houses, spirit houses range from the crude and basic to the fancy and elaborate. The construction may sit atop a simple bamboo pole that is colourfully decorated, or it may be a concrete edifice adorned with images or figurines of people and animals.

It’s a common practice to leave offerings of food and drink at spirit houses. Snacks, fruits, and desserts are some of the more typical offerings, and incense and flowers are also frequently seen. The animistic idea behind the offerings is to have friendly spirits gather to enjoy the food and drinks while helping to keep the more malicious spirits away. The Buddhist idea behind the offerings comes more from a place of respect, where the houses are seen more as a place for the souls of the dead to rest before they move on from this world and onto the next life. The offerings are often weekly, and sometimes even daily.

Although spirit houses are compatible with multiple schools of tradition, there are many people who buy spirit houses to use more as an ornament than for religious purposes. As you wander through town, you will see numerous spirit houses along the streets, each of them unique. Whatever its purpose, a spirit house is a significant part of the Khmer culture and an indispensable part of the Khmer identity.

Kravan Temple is Hindu Relgion...............................................................
Kravan Temple is built of bricks, built on a single floor, with towers lined up, the central tower is the largest and tallest. The five towers face east, with one door open and the other three doors made of sandstone and made of sandstone. On the walls are statues of Vishnu, Lakshmi, Mother Earth, and Brahma Dwarf. In the tower of Kravan temple, there are many sculptures that tell the myth of the deity Vishnu and Krong Pali. Not only that, Kravan temple also has sculptures about the marriage of Vishnu and Princess Lakmei. On the wall of the main tower of the Kravan temple, restored by the Frenchman Groillier, we see a sculpture representing a deity in a graceful posture, with a king on a throne and a sculpture. The most amazing thing is that on a lotus flower, it is very admirable. The four arms are adorned with jewels such as the magic circle, the snail, the scepter and the ball represent the earth. At the bottom of the deity's feet, there is a woman praying with a lotus flower in her hand, Princess Lakshmi, his wife. What is even more remarkable is that behind her back there is a curved line representing the sea. Such Vishnu dances are highlighted in the Samita and the Vedic scriptures studied by Kom Svami, an Indian scholar, and also in Khmer inscriptions. As in the field of sculpture in Cambodia, they have also encountered many ancient sculptures in Thailand and Laos that represent Vishnu in the same manner, although we have not yet studied the details. As in the case of the sculptures in the temple of Phimai, Phnom Rong and Siri Phum or Wat Phu. In fact, through the sculpture of Vishnu Trivikram above, Cambodian artists want to show the people the depth of his sacred influence in keeping our world alive forever, because this world from one world to another always Destroy, perish, and rebuild by the power of this deity. He re-creates the world by destroying all evil influences through this "crazy dance", which is a means or a way to the abode of evil or misery.

Conclusion:
Kravan temple is located in Kravan village, Nokor Thom commune, Siem Reap city , Siem Reap province , east of Angkor Wat and south of Banteay Kdei. This temple was built in 921 AD during the reign of King Hasavarman I (910-923) to dedicate to Vishnu in Brahmanism. The temple was built by an official named Mahithavarman, a senior official of King Hasavarman I of the 10th century. Although the temple is small, the carvings on the floor are flawless. The temple has five towers facing east. According to the information on the frame of the gates of the second, third and fifth towers, which briefly provided information, Mahathir was given a shrine in the center of the third tower to the Hindu deity at the temple. This represents the place of Vishnu, while the third tower dedicated to the five mothers, which is built as a statue on the throne, we see the image of Melaksmey on the inner wall of the tower. The inscription states that the builders of the temple were the people living around the temple, whose names are mentioned in the inscription.

The animism religion is well believed of Cambodia Cultures. ...............................................................
The idea of animism was developed by anthropologist Sir Edward Tylor through his 1871 book Primitive Culture, in which he defined it as "the general doctrine of souls and other spiritual beings in general." According to Tylor, animism often includes "an idea of pervading life and will in nature;" a belief that natural objects other than humans have souls. This formulation was little different from that proposed by Auguste Comte as "fetishism", but the terms now have distinct meanings.

For Tylor, animism represented the earliest form of religion, being situated within an evolutionary framework of religion that has developed in stages and which will ultimately lead to humanity rejecting religion altogether in favor of scientific rationality. Thus, for Tylor, animism was fundamentally seen as a mistake, a basic error from which all religions grew. He did not believe that animism was inherently illogical, but he suggested that it arose from early humans' dreams and visions and thus was a rational system. However, it was based on erroneous, unscientific observations about the nature of reality. Stringer notes that his reading of Primitive Culture led him to believe that Tylor was far more sympathetic in regard to "primitive" populations than many of his contemporaries and that Tylor expressed no belief that there was any difference between the intellectual capabilities of "savage" people and Westerners.

The idea that there had once been "one universal form of primitive religion" (whether labelled animism, totemism, or shamanism) has been dismissed as "unsophisticated" and "erroneous" by archaeologist Timothy Insoll, who stated that "it removes complexity, a precondition of religion now, in all its variants.

In conclusion:
Animism is the belief that objects, places, and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. Animism perceives all things—animals, plants, rocks, rivers, weather systems, human handiwork, and in some cases words—as being animated, having agency and free will. Animism is used in anthropology of religion as a term for the belief system of many Indigenous peoples in contrast to the relatively more recent development of organized religions. Animism is a metaphysical belief which focuses on the supernatural universe (beyond logical foundations and procedures): specifically, on the concept of the immaterial soul.
