Kulen Mountain or WaterFall means Mountain of Lychees, old name Mahendraparvata located in Siem Reap, around 55 km from the city center.

Kulen Mountain is a unique place and it celebratd the Shiva's Ceremony in Hinduism. This ceremony ( use magic water comes from the top of the mountain ) is used to cleanse the sins or something bad you made when you were alive. And nowsaday this belief goes into Budhhism that every holy day or fullmoon day, there are many people go to the pagodato get the water blessings from the Budhhist monks.
Shiva's ceremony is celebrated in Kulen Mountain and Kbal Spean Mountain that they carved 1000 Shiva Lingas and Vishnu reclining on the naga and Lakmi sat to support Vishu's leg and Bramah sat in the Lotus that grew from the Vishu's nevel. This is a holy water that frows on the scultures every season.
Kulen Mountain is a place that Khmer King excavated the Sandstone to build all the temple because it has very good quality of stone. Some Statues or Scultures were carved here and then they brought to the store in the temples.

Pre Rup temple was built by King Rejendravaraman II in 10th century ( 944-968 ). And it was constructed to dedicated to God Shiva.
It was an excellent temple in style and decoration and made of laterite and brick. It was represented to the Mountain Meru with 5 brick towers on the top. Accourding to the inscription told the date in A.D 961 and the name of Shiva Linga was Rejendra Bhahresvara which kept in the central tower and another Linga kept in the Northeast Tower ( Rajendra Vemesvara ). The the other 3 towers formerly they kept the statues of Shiva, Uma and Vishnu, his Ancestors, King Harshavaraman II ( Bhramaloka ) and his cousin Brother.
The name of Pre Rup temple means " Changing the Body " and it recalls one of rituals cremation which the silhouette of the body was cremated and changed into another form as the " Ash " that could reach his goal.

Neak Pean temple was built King Jayavaraman VII ( 1181-1220) late 12th century. The King constructed this temple to dedicate to Bodhhisatva Alokesvara , as a Budhhist temple. And it also used this temple as a clinic to heal the Physical and Mental illness and to cleanse the sins or to improve the astrologiacl line for good luck.

Guardian lions flanked the main approaches to the sanctuary of most Khmer temples and were also placed along the stairways and on terraces. The lion, representing royalty, strength, and courage, was the personal symbol of the Khmer kings, who were believed to be gods as well. Therefore, the lion as guardian of the sacred precinct suggested the ability to ward off evil through both divine and royal protection.
