What is Chuseok?

Chuseok is a Korean festival that celebrates the harvest and the full moon. It is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar.

The time of the year when people go back to their ancestral homes to celebrate a good harvest, Chuseok is one of the biggest festivals celebrated in all of Korea. When you meet your family after a long time, especially during a celebration you greet them with all your hope, happiness, and love.

The Lighting Festival in winter

Held at the Garden of Morning Calm, the Lighting Festival was the first light festival in Korea to combine the natural surroundings with lights, covering 330 thousand square meters. Held from December to March, the environmental-friendly LED lights shine throughout the garden.

The Garden of Morning Calm showcases the beauty of Korean horticulture before the backdrop of Chungryeongsan Mountain. Visitors can walk among a profusion of flowers in unique gardens and through a lush forest of pine nut trees. The garden was opened in May 1996 by horticultural professor Han Sang-kyung, and features 20 different themed sections, connected by scenic walkways. The Sunken Garden is shaped like the Korean Peninsula and is carpeted with beautiful flowers on both sides representing the desire for South and North Korea to be reunited. It is easily one of the most popular and meaningful attractions at the garden. The garden houses about 5,000 kinds of plants, including 300 varieties native to Baekdusan Mountain, known as a spiritual mountain to the Korean people. The garden has served as a filming site for many productions.

Deogyusan Mountain has the fourth highest mountain peak in South Korea (Hyangjeokbong 1,614m) which preserves a sub-alpine ecosystem.
Each year about one million visitors come to Deogyusan National Park.
It was designated as the 10th national park in 1975.
It is beautiful in all four seasons, but especially in winter, Snowflakes(snow flowers) are fantastic.

I went there to see snowflakes, but there was not much snow. It was half success.

Travel Bubble - Singapore & Korea
From Nov. 15, Korean citizens can travel to Singapore without having to complete a mandatory seven-day quarantine on their arrival as long as they are fully vaccinated at least 14 days before their departure.
Korea and Singapore agreed on Friday to such travel terms which is being deemed a Vaccinated Travel Lane, or more commonly known as a travel bubble. Singapore citizens will also be exempt from doing the mandatory 14-day quarantine when they travel to Korea.
Citizens of both countries that are vaccinated with shots approved by the World Health Organization are eligible. Travelers will need to carry their vaccine certificate, a negative Covid-19 test result — within 48 hours before departure time for Korean citizens and 72 hours for Singaporeans — and travel insurance. Travelers will be tested again once they land.
Since both countries stopped visa-waiver for entries since April last year, travelers also need to prepare any necessary visa or travel documents.
Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Singaporean Airline currently operate direct flights.
