This is a staple restaurant that has been around for some time. I was able to finally gather enough people to go here with me to try out a few of their dishes. (I don't know why I struggle to find people to go eat with me 🙄)

This is what we ordered:
1. 갈비찜 Galbi Jjim - their signature dish. This is what I mainly came for and it was good but not mind-blowing. It was too sweet for me, but not bad.
2. 애호박감자채전 Squash Potato Pancake - great texture, squash gave it a lighter texture, excellent pickled onions to go with it.
3. 육회 Beef Tartare - excellent! Great marinade on the beef. Loved the ultra thinly sliced pear and cucumber and the abundance of it.
4. 양념목살구이 Marinated Pork Neck - tasty. Not overly sweet on marinade which can be an issue sometimes. Great way to serve it with the cabbage.
5. 명란계란탕 Pollack Roe Egg Soup - very refreshing, big portion, could drink a lot of alcohol with this
6. 제주안심탕수육 Jeju Tenderloin Sweet and Sour Pork - pretty standard, wouldn't order again

Ona X Gigas Collab 🍽

This was a special event to highlight two amazing chefs. A vegan chef from France (Chef Claire Vallée) and an up and coming young chef (Chef Jung Ha-wan) at . A few vegan items and a mix of Mediterranean.

There were a few highlight dishes. The beetroot dish was probably my favorite of the night. The wine pairings were excellent.

I'll have to come back and check out their full course menu in the future.

I don't ever post a non-food photo but this deserves a post in itself. This has always been one of my favorite spots in Seoul. Always a gorgeous view. But today was particularly amazing. No filter needed.

This is quite a popular, quaint wine bar in the expat area of HBC. They have excellent food with very reasonable prices. It has a really nice atmosphere that would be ideal for a date or a quiet, small gathering with friends.

We ordered the Terrine (₩13,000) which comes with dijon mustard and cornichons. The terrine was outstanding. The only bad thing about this dish is that you have to order the bread separately. But this is a must order when coming here. 2nd dish was the mini potatoes 🥔 and aioli (₩9,000). Simple and delicious. Lastly, I got the Canteen Tomato Spaghetti 🍝 (₩18,000). Fairly basic. Nothing special about it.

Good food and good atmosphere makes for a good time!

I came here for their lunch course at ₩60,000/person for a room. It costs ₩5,000 more to sit at the counter.

The omakase course comes with 18 "bites". It started off with deodeok followed by 13 pieces of sushi and finishing off with some lightly braised salmon, noodles, and black bean ice cream. It was a pretty nice course overall, but lacked in a few things.
1. The courses came out a little too fast to the point that it seemed like they wanted us to quickly eat and get out.
2. The quality of the fish and rice was slightly lower than what I expected for a ₩60,000 course.
3. They didn't explain the courses very well and couldn't answer some of my questions.

I would've been happy paying ₩50,000 for this course, but for ₩60,000 I expected more.

Onto the next omakase!!! 🏃‍♂️

This is a small, quaint bar that serves decent cocktails at a decent price. They serve fusion dishes for their food.

Their drinks are good. I ordered a negroni and a gimlet and they both came out well-made. I ordered 2 dishes from them (one dish is mandatory per group). I ordered the Romesco Iberico Pork Neck 🍖 (₩30,000), which comes with grilled leeks and sour cream. The pork was cooked at medium. The romesco was weak. The flavor combination was decent. Wouldn't order again, personally. 2nd dish was 어향가지 🍆 Chinese-style Fried Eggplant (₩24,000). It comes with minced pork, bamboo shoots, and fried agastache. It was good, but not worth the price. It would've been nicer to have the eggplant crispier.

It is quite a hipster bar. I probably wouldn't go back to just because I didn't appreciate their tone when other friends wanted to join later even though there were seats at the bar still. There was no apology and just asked them to leave.

I've been curious about this place for a while because there aren't many places that serve a Cubano. It's owned by a Cuban guy so I had some pretty high expectations.

I ordered the Cubano Set which comes with fries and choice of Americano or draft beer for ₩12,900. You can upgrade the drink for an upcharge. The Cubano itself was quite nice. It was quite balanced. Once you add on the giardiniera on it, it makes it that much better! Next time I'll make sure to get 2 sandwiches!

The mojito 🍹 was a little too sweet for me. They use tonic water instead of soda water. 😒 I'll ask them to use soda water next time and I think it should be fine. And maybe a little more mint.

There is only one table outside but a perfect spot to chill and people watch.

A fairly newly opened Japanese omakase restaurant near Hapjeong Station in Hongdae. Dinner is priced at ￦120,000 per person. A decent value for a 24-ish bite omakase. All of the quality of the sushi was excellent. The non-fish bites were well executed and flavorful. We sat in a room as we were a group of 4, but I would have preferred to sit at the bar.

I finally got my burger fix! I like eating burgers at home so that nobody judges how much I eat at the restaurant. 😅

Smash burgers are a big trend these days in Korea. I'm have no prejudice against any type of burger. I like them all. I ordered their double cheeseburger set ￦10,500 and their Nashville chicken burger ￦7,000. Very good value. I ate it 30 minutes after bringing it home and they were great. It's your fairly standard smash burger. The chicken burger was good too. Is there anything that sets this place apart from the others? No. It is good value and close to my house.

This place has been on my list for about 2 years but for some reason never made it out here. I figured it'd be a little bit slower after the boom but...it wasn't.

I got there at opening so we only waited about 45 minutes. Not as bad as how bad it used to be.

They are mainly known for their basil pesto ramen 미도리카메 (￦10,000). I was expecting a stronger basil pesto like in a pasta, but it was milder. Honestly, it works. If it was stronger, it would be too overwhelming for a bowl of ramen. They did really well with this. A good amount of roast pork belly. The thinner noodles typically go really well with a broth ramen. Very well balanced.

I knew I wasn't going to be full off of one bowl so I got the mini charsiu don 미니 차슈동 (￦4,000) and their signature tomato jjukaemono 토마토 쯔케모노 (￦3,000). The chasyudon was packed with a ton of meat and worth the price. The tomatoes were light and refreshing. You can eat them as an appetizer or as a dessert.

You have to place your order as you wait in line and you can add to your order once you are in. So make sure you know what you want. The portion of the ramen is a tiny bit smaller than your standard bowl (or maybe because I'm a fat kid 🤣).

This is an interesting place for a so-called wine bar. It is a 70's/80's interior with a disco ball. The prices for wine aren't bad, but I super disappointed in their recommendation. We asked for a dry wine and they gave us one that was not dry whatsoever. Whatever. Let's drink something else.

We got on the feast train and ordered a little bit of everything. We ordered the #후토마끼 (￦18,000) Hutomaki, 밤피장스시 (￦29,000) Bam Pi Jang Sushi, 청양고추세비체 (￦19,000), 단새우깻잎페스토카펠리니 (￦10,900) 🍤 sweet shrimp perilla leaf pesto capellini, and the 🍝 혼마구로스시 (￦4,500/2 pieces) 🍣 medium fatty tuna nigiri.

The Hutomaki was good. The sushi is more like sashimi but in smaller pieces. It was still a good spoonful. Hard to go wrong with tuna, salmon, and salmon roe. The cappelini was good but nothing that made it that special. It was a little plain in my opinion. I was expecting the pesto to have a little punch to it but it was eh. The nigiri was good.

Overall, it was a decent experience but I don't know how fast I'll be running back here. The prices basically match the quantity and quality of the dishes except the Bam Pi Jang Sushi. That was overpriced. I would've been happier with some sushi rice to eat with it. And...DON'T get the wine. Just order soju and/or beer.

This place blows my mind. How does natural wine and tacos work? This place kills it.

We ordered every tacos they had on their menu including their vegan chorizo tacos. Every taco was outstanding!

I wish I could post more pictures of their menu and their drinks. Handmade blue corn tortillas, hand-selected natural wines, and just detail. This place deserves ❤🧡💛💚💙💜!

Natural wine is something that is trendy in Korea but they do it well. They know their wines and will give great recommendations. We tried a few and weren't disappointed. Great prices especially for Korea!

Tacos...we ordered their fish tacos, chicken tinga, and their vegan chorizo. My personal favorite were the fish tacos. But honestly, loved all of them. Everything was executed well and made with love. Give them a try and I promise you won't be disappointed. My top 3 spots for tacos in Korea!

They have outstanding cocktails, amazing shots, and even their horchata you will love.

Go show this place some love because they deserve it.

These are some fun little spots that you find hidden in the back somewhere that you wouldn't expect. Owned by a grandma and grandpa in a tiny shop in the back alleys near dongdaemun station. This is definitely a locals' spot! Literally me and another grandpa were in there eating.

They are known mainly for their naengmyeon. Since I'm a mul naengmyeon lover, I decided to go with that a plate of mandu. The comes at a cheap price of ￦6,000 which you will probably never see besides at a spot. But as a straight noodles shop...probably never. The 🥟 was also a decent price at 6 bucks.

The naengmyeon came out differently than any other shop I've been to. It comes with the hot mustard already in the bowl. So I guess for those who don't like it, ask for it without. The noodles were store-brought and the broth was a little generic tasting. I've had better noodles. The mandu were frozen dumplings but they give you a LOT! 12 dumplings!!! They must've just emptied out the whole bag. 🤣

Even the food isn't always the best at some of these shops, I love supporting them. Maybe I'll go back and try some of their other stuff.

This is a cute, little Bingsoo shop that makes everything in-house. They are a small franchise so there are a few other locations but I went to the Gangnam location.
We ordered their signature #가마솥팥빙수 Gamasot Patbingsoo. The shaved ice is made from milk, the red beans weren't super sweet, and the rice cake on top was soft and chewy. It makes for a excellent simple dessert.
I am a HUGE fan of 식혜 Sikhye which is the sweet rice drink. It tasted fresh and not too sweet. It was very well balanced. Would order again!
The next item that they specialize in is the 단팥빵 red bean bread. It is a classic Korean bread and I've eaten millions of them. This one was outstanding! The red bean like I said isn't super sweet and you can taste the freshness of the beans. The bread has the perfect texture or this kinda Korean pastry. It was soft and slightly chewy, it had a slight sweetness to it, and the black sesame adds a rounded nuttiness to it. It was 3 for ￦4,000 so I tried a different kind. They have a 복분자 앙금빵 which is made with Korean raspberries. The filling is made with sweet potato and the dried raspberries gave it a slight sweetness. It was also really good. I don't know if it's because I'm a classy/classic guy 😎, but I would get boxes of the red bean bread!

Watch me make kimchi jjigae 김치찌개. I haven't made it in a long time but I had to use up my old kimchi. I basically made a budaejjigae, honestly, 😅 with bacon instead of regular pork.

📍백송 Baeksong 🥩 신당동 248-32 Shindang-dong 248-32 This is an excellent spot to enjoy some amazing cuts of Korean Hanwoo Beef. Their sides are minimal, but they compliment the beef. Get some spicy chili peppers to balance out the amount of fat you are consuming.
