Korea's 28-Year-Old Hero Poet

Moon Bear Travel has a podcast! You can follow the link below or tune into our latest episode anywhere you listen to podcasts.

What's Han Your Mind? The Podcast: Two non-Koreans living in Korea, sharing Korean history, culture, and anecdotes of life in Seoul. All done through one, seemingly unrelated word each week.

Word of the Week: POEM If you've visited Korea in the last several years, you've likely seen poetry by Yoon D**g Joo popping up in national exhibitions. Yoon is a patriotic symbol of Korean independence and is best understood through his poetry. What does his poetry mean to us? Does it really feel '...

It can be hard to balance the feeling of “home” and “new country” when you move abroad. Even 5 years into living in Korea, I often feel like I’m not exploring enough. Social media certainly has a role in me feeling that way, besides the longing to know and see every part of this country I’ve chosen to call home. 🏡 How have you found the balance between living your life and wanting to travel/have fun in your new country?

Why the magpies, Korea? 🐦

In Korean folk tales and legends, a magpie is a stroke of good luck, as usually it comes bearing happy news. That's why the kkachi 까치 is the national bird of Korea and beloved among its people.

I love seeing magpies hoping around together. I get even more excited when there is on a bar menu! Cheers to magpies! 🍺 -Allie

Fun Fact! We had thought about naming our website in relation to Magpies, but there was already a Magpie tour company. The rest is, as they say, history.

I love discovering hidden places.

This hanok restaurant felt straight out of a dream when I found it tucked between concrete clusters. The best part was that it was just starting to rain, and the pitter patter of drops on all these beautiful plants made for the perfect soundtrack. I didn't go in to try their (funnily enough) Italian menu, but it's been added to my always-expanding Naver list. -Allie

[ARTICLE ON THE BLOG] Seosomun History Park: Seoul's Hidden Gem

Tucked away behind the bustling streets of Seoul's business and historical district lies a hidden gem: Seosomun Historical Park, a Vatican-approved Catholic pilgrimage site. At first glance, the park seems nothing more than a typical neighborhood feature with some unusually eye-catching architecture. But a darker story lies beneath these pathways: one you can literally find underground at the park's basement level museum. Check out our fully detailed article to discover what there is to see and do in this incredible place! Catholic or not, this is somewhere you WON'T want to miss.

What's your favorite park in Seoul? Are there any hidden gems in your neighborhood? Leave a comment below and let's keep exploring!

Looking for a party room in Korea? 🎉Look no further than

This amazing party room goes for only 20,000 won per hour on weekdays and 30,000 for weekends. Located in the heart of Gyeongridan-gil, it's the perfect place to gather with your people after a day out exploring.

With their spacious garden, BBQ, and indoor lounge and kitchen, there are plenty of places to cozy up in Jazz Garage. We went for a Hygge evening and packed our own candles and pajamas to get in the mood. Soft jazz played all night long and we really enjoyed going through their CD selection. You can also use their beam projector to watch your favorite flicks! Everything was made sweeter with the help of and their incredible bread.

Be sure to check out and follow their Instagram and spread the love! This is not only my new favorite party room in Seoul, but one of my new happy places. ♡ -Allie
