Seolnal, the Lunar New Year, is around the corner.

February 10 is the lunar new year in Korea. We called Seolnal.

We have a special meal and various folk games in Seolnal.

This year, Seoul Greeters prepared some programs to introduce our culture.

We introduce the "Traditional Folk Game, Yeon; Kite."

Yeon, the kite was one of the traditional winter folk games. It was used for communication media in the military.

Admiral Yi used the kite for a signal during the Japanese invasion in the 16th Century. Different colors and designs gave different messages from one army to another army.

There are two events for this Seolnal.

The first event is a traditional Korean kite-making class with lectures. And the other is flying your kite after you make your one. We will walk together and go hiking along the Suwon Fortress.
