Blue Lagoon 1 is located around 25 minutes ride from the city center. And due to its nearer location, it receives the most tourist groups per day and is usually crowded any time of the day.

There is also Phu Kham Cave next to Blue Lagoon 1, which makes it even more popular.

The site is much more established and has more facilities compared to Blue Lagoon 3. There’s a huge tree with a horizontal branch, where people can climb up with the stairs and dive into the lagoon below. It’s quite scary to be honest, as it’s quite tall.
There are several food stalls there where you can get your lunch. And the best part is that there are many wooden huts prepared for visitors, where you can take a nap, eat your lunch or just chatting with your friends in there.
Changing rooms are of course provided there so you need not to change beforehand.
The shape of the lagoon is somehow like a static river, and you’ll find a lot of people chillin’ by the side of the lagoon. Depending on when you visit, the water can get very cold.
The entrance fee of Blue Lagoon 1 is 10,000 Kip per person.

About climate in Vang Vieng.

Vang Vieng has a tropical monsoon climate according to the Köppen climate classification, with a distinct dry season and a lengthy and very rainy wet season. The wet season starts from April to October, and is characterized by very high amounts of rainfall, which peaks in July.
The dry season spans from November to March, and features cooler temperatures than during the rest of the year.
The weather in Vang Vieng is coolest during the months of December and January, and hottest from March to May. Overall, the temperature ranges from an average low of 13.5°C in January to an average high of 34°C in April.

Vang Vieng is a tourist-oriented town in Laos in Vientiane Province about four hours bus ride north of the capital. The town lies on the Nam Song River.
Vang Vieng was first settled around 1353 as a staging post between Luang Prabang and Vientiane. Originally named Mouang Song after the body of the deceased King Phra Nha Phao of Phai Naam was seen floating down the river, the town was renamed Vang Vieng during French colonial rule in the 1890s.
Sitting on the banks of the Song River, the rural town might seem serene now. But Vang Vieng has seen a tumultuous 15 years, evolving from an agricultural community to a hedonistic party capital when it was "discovered" by Western shoestring travelers in the late 1990s.
Excessive drinking, drugs, trash, concrete construction and fatal accidents were detrimental to the local community.
But in 2012, Vang Vieng's narrative changed completely when the government shuttered most of the problematic bars and activities and repositioned the town as an eco-paradise.
Since then, a refreshed Vang Vieng has risen from the ashes of its erstwhile excesses.
The town has reinvented itself as the country's hub of adventure travel, offering a lengthy menu of adrenaline-fueled experiences such as hot air ballooning, buggy riding, tubing, kayaking , boat-tours, hundreds of caves, small villages , blue lagoons, limestone mountains and much much more…
