Hi! I’m Rod Plant,

I first came to Thailand in 1976, where I was ordained as a monk for 5 years.
In 1979, I helped Cambodian refugee camps and later resettling Cambodians to Australia.

In 1988, I was appointed by Save the Children Australia to be their first country director for Laos.
In 1991, I worked on a Thai hill-tribe social development project until 1994, and directly trained government officials in 6 provinces.

In 2016, I retired from public service in Australia and settled in Laos.

During the COVID-19 pandemic I joined Chris Barth Visa & Expat Services, where my past experience and fluency in both Lao and Thai was well utilized – me and Chris handled several medevacs and emergencies, helped foreigners struggling in Laos due to border closure and also foreigners who had been incarcerated.
