T

ours in Tripoli are led by Mira Minkara a guide passionate about her home city's history, heritage and hidden treasures, who’s been leading tours in Tripoli for the past 22 years. Mira will share with you stories and anecdotes from her family and from her memories of the city. Tripoli Old City Tour

A guided tour of the old Tripoli that has often been compared to Cairo, the city with the largest Mamlouk heritage in the world. We will walk around vibrant souks, hidden Hammams, majestic mosques, colorful khans, stylish madrassas (Coranic schools), crafts streets, etc. The city was also once the capital of the Crusader County of Tripoli and the provincial capital of the Ottoman Eyalet (state) of Tripoli; we will come across some of the traces that remain of these periods too. Rachid Karami International Fairground

A walk through the magnificent International Fairground of Tripoli designed by the famous Brazilian Architect Oscar Niemeyer’s, an avant-garde space built in the 60ies but was never completed due to the beginning of the civil war in 1975. We will be discovering the fantastic buildings of the fairground and their functions, learn more about the history of the space, and last but not least, I will share with you some stories and anecdotes about Oscar Niemeyer. Mina Tour

Mina is the sea side area of Tripoli. We will walk and talk history through its cosy alleys, get mesmerized by the beautiful orthodox church of St George and discover the many islands from afar with their endless stories. The old train station is abandoned since 1975, yet you can still see German and French trains from the beginning of the century. Crafts of Tripoli

A dive into the world of craftsmen and artisans of Tripoli. We will be walking all through the old city discovering and meeting the oldest and still functioning local crafts in the city. My city has always been known for its artisanal sector, unfortunately many of the crafts are slowly fading away and dying. We will try through this tour to get to know the different remaining crafts, their stories, their techniques, their spaces and their challenges; then maybe with your interest and appreciation, we will be able to give the craftsmen some hope that their old tradition has the chance to still make it in this fast modern industrialized world. On this day, we will encounter many kinds and shapes of olive oil soaps, colorful quilts, copper lamps, distillers and plates, wicker chairs, different wood and jewelry work and much more.
----------------
We mostly organize private tours for this period. You can choose the day that is convenient for you and we will check the availability of the local guides. The prices for private tours are below:

2-3 Persons: 150 $
4-6 Persons: 40 $ per
7 to11 Persons: 30 $ per

"Thank you again for such a lovely tour in the old city of Tripoli. This and the Niemeyer Exhibition Center tour have been two of my favorite excursions since moving to Lebanon. I think it's so cool that you are bringing people to these places -- I probably never come there on my own. And of course hearing you talk about the history was so interesting! Best, Christina"

For those who dont know The complex was designed by an international team of 11 architects, led by Wallace K. Harrison from the United States, with the final proposal being a combination between Oscar Niemeyer and Le Corbusier's designs. Lots of tension rose between Niemeyer and his teacher Le corbusier while putting the design together.
