Schools Remain Closed Today due to Inclement Weather

The Ministry of Education has advised that all schools will remain closed today Tuesday 29th November 2016 due to the inclement weather. This also includes the closure of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.

Saint Lucia is currently experiencing inclement weather brought by an upper level trough that is producing showers and thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles. This system is expected to continue to produce showers and isolated thunderstorms over the region as it moves towards the east.

Minister for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development Honourable Dr. Gale T. C. Rigobert made a statement this morning advising that parents and guardians keep children at home in order to ensure safety while the island is experiencing this weather system.

Persons are asked to use extreme caution and constantly check for weather updates:

25 April is ! Wear orange and speak out to end violence against women and girls. The UNiTE Campaign has just announced its theme of action for 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence in 2016: "Orange the World: Raise Money for ending Violence against Women." The gap between promises, acknowledgments and investment is wider still. This is why, in demands adequate funding at all levels, to end and prevent violence against women and girls. One of our National Swimmers, Anthony Francois, is very ill and has been undergoing medical treatment in Martinique. As a result, he has not been able to return to school, swimming or volleyball for some months.

The Sharks Swim Club will be hosting a Swimathon to help to raise funds to provide some assistance to Anthony’s family in covering the costs of the medical treatment. All Clubs, swimmers and well-wishers are invited to participate and help with this worthwhile cause.

Dr Diane Worrell has kindly agreed to the use of the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center for this fund-raising event on Saturday 21st February from 8:30 to 11:30.

For further information, please contact any Club swimmer or Head Coach of the SHARKS Swim Club on 713 7321 or email [email protected].
