Bird watching locations in Sri Lanka

The main bird sanctuary in Sri Lanka is Kumana National Park in the Southeast, which is the most important breeding and nesting ground in Sri Lanka for local and migratory birds. The Bundala National Park, the most southern tip of the ‘bird migratory route’ is a favorable breeding ground for flamingoes, herons and storks. They are in regular sight. Other places include Kalametiya bird sanctuary, Sinharaja rain forest, Bodinaga forest reserves, Kitulgala forest reserves and the National Parks like Yala, Wilpattu, Udawalawe, Wasgamuwa, Minneriya and Hortan Plain in addition to numerous tanks, reservoirs, lagoons, lakes and rivers.
