Statistics say that around 700 buses are being used for tourism in Sri Lanka, But now it has reduced to about 300 due to the destruction of the industry in the last few years. These vehicles were mainly supplied by private individuals. It's a pretty hard task to protect and maintain these vehicles for such a long period of time. Most of the large coaches are parked outside. Batteries, A/C units, and many other expensive systems must have been maintained on regular basis for the reliable and safe operation of the buses. They have been a resource for the country valued at millions of dollars, but no measures are being taken to ensure the protection of Tourist buses already in for the future tourism requirements.
