The Wildlife Conservation Department has announced that all National Parks in Sri Lanka will be closed from 13th to 15th in September due to the scheduled island wide elephant survey which has been planned for September 13th and 14th centering on 250 jungle locations across the island close to water holes. In addition, all circuit bungalows run by the Department within the National parks will also be closed for tourists during those days.
We hereby inform our valuable clients, to kindly note the above includes the closure of the main National parks that tourists patronize such as Yala National Park, Wilpattu National Park, Udawalawe National park, Minneriya National Park, Bundala National Park and Horton Plains Cloud Forest during the said 3-day period.
Enumerating teams totaling 4,500 participants comprising Wildlife Department officers, public servants, armed forces and police personnel and wildlife enthusiasts will take part in the field work.
