Meemure 🖤💙

Meemure is a village with a population of about 420 people living in it. It is located near the border between Kandy district & Matale district in the Knuckles mountain range. It is one of the most remote villages in Sri Lanka with only access via 14km (8.7 miles) trail from the town of Loolwatte. There is no cellular service available in the village but a CDMA telephone service is available. There is no direct mail delivery to that village. A villager journeys each day to Thapal junction to exchange incoming and outgoing post mail with a postman.

Lakegala mountain is in Meemure village. Residents of the village depend on several staple crops including pepper, cardamom, paddy and ginger.

Thirukoneswaram Temple

This is the most beautiful tourist destination in Sri Lanka. Thirukoneswaram is a classical medieval hindu temple complex. It is located in Trincomalee District, Eastern province Sri Lanka. This is an important hindu pilgrimage center which is the famous Ramayana trail related site in Sri Lanka. According to that this temple is located on a rock promontory which was built by Rishi Agastaya on the instructions of Lord Shiva.

Re related to the Sri Lankan Ramayana story, Koneswaram has many strong history. This temple was built here during the glorious era of Tamil, Pallava, Chola and Pandya empires. It was destroyed by Portuguese christians between 1622- 1624.

Lover's leap is a cliff which is located a few meters away from Thirukoneswaram hindu temple main shirne room. This very deep cliff is located on the summit of the famous Swami rock of Trincomalee. There are different interpretations of this place. According to the Ramayana, the cliff is made by King Ravana. The mother of King Ravana had practised the worship of god Shiva. When she was very ill, King Ravana lifted the shrine rock and at that time lord shiva made him drop his sword. Therefore this place was named as Ravana cliff.

Hakgala Botanical Garden

Hakgala botanical garden is another famous tourist destination in Sri Lanka. It is situated in Nuwara Eliya - Badulla main road. This botanical garden extends for about 28 hectares, lying under the shadow of the Hakgala rock. It has a cool climate because the altitude is 5400 feet above sea level. There are over 10 000 species of flora planted here and during the spring season in Nuwara Eliya thousands of visitors come to see the blooms here. The Garden is famous for the number of species of orchids and roses present in this garden.

Peradeniya Botanical Garden

This is the most beautiful tourist destination in Sri Lanka. King Kirti Sri Rajasinghe created the garden as the royal pleasure garden. In 1815 the British took Kandy under their control. Under British rule, the royal park became a botanical garden in 1821 and is the largest of Sri Lanka's three main botanical gardens. This royal botanical garden includes Orchid houses containing an outstanding collection, an octagon conservatory, fernery, banks of giant bamboo, numerous flower borders with cannas, hibiscus, croton and Boganvillaea. In the center of the garden is an artificial lake in the shape of the island of Sri Lanka.

Horton Plains National Park

One of the most beautiful world heritage sites in the world is definitely the Horton Plains National Park in Sri Lanka. The park is spread over the two highest mountains in the area called Kirigalpotta and Thotapola. The plateau - like structure along with plains on the end, thick forests and mountains on the other side of the central highlands of Sri Lanka. You will find lots of waterfalls, lakes, rocky hills etc. The forest is home to many wild animals.
