Peacock Hills -The view point of Kothmale. Words fail me to explain the experience of Peacock Hill, Kothmale.
Peacock hills (1518m) is a mountain situated on the side of A5 road closer to Pussellawa town. It is an easy hike as you can go closer to the base of the mountain. But the road condition is not that much good. After parking your vehicle at trail head there is a climb of 30minutes through Pines trees which ends at peak of Peacock hills.
Communication towers have occupied the peak of this mountain but view point provides a fantastic surrounding view. It includes Kotmale reservoir, Pussellawa town, Ramboda falls, Kabaragala mountain etc.
On top of the mountain are 3 communication towers and a small office. Walk to the right of this building and you can see the most amazing view! It’s equal or better than World’s End! If you’re brave enough, scramble down the rock to a larger outcrop of rock for better views of the vicinity. The Rothschild Tea Garden is a site for sore eyes, together with the pine forests.
You don’t need permission to reach there though transmission towers are placed. It is worth to visit there if you are going to Nuweraeliya from Colombo or Kandy.
