Arugam Bay is in an isolated location on the east coast, well beyond the usual tourism circuits during the winter season. Security has been stepped up in the area as a precaution and the government has assured safety of all citizens and tourists.

Today’s advisories by various embassies refers to Arugam Bay only, and does not cover any other part of the country which remain entirely safe.
