It's a pleasure when you have a combination of young and old bringing in the 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧vibe.

Route for the day - Colombo fort > Ja Ela > Minuwangoda > Meerigama > Pilimathalawa > Hantana ( Returning in the same route from Galaha )

Would you agree if I say Pekoe Trail has become famous as well as infamous at the same time ?

before that, let's see what stands for this Pekoe Trail.

Pekoe Trail is a walking trail which has 22 stages and approximately counts to 310km in total distance. The trail covers the central part of Sri Lanka.

Miguel Cunat, is known to be the founder who spent many years hiking in the central highlands of Sri Lanka.

This was the first time a trail was introduced in the country in a formal manner.

Pekoe Trail was also picked as #16 in the pick list of BEST OF THE WORLD 2024, under Top 20 travel experiences.

So why would I feel this has become infamous ?

One could argue that there are more beautiful places and viewes than in Pekoe Trail with in the country. That this might not be challenging enough. The purpose of walking in a path which is already there etc. could be few reasons in my opinion that the trail is becoming in famous for.

However, tfew important facts that we need to remember are:

1.This is a new concept for Sri Lanka and generally new things and change is hard to accept and takes time.

2. This can be done by many people within a vast range of age. ( 8-75 depending on fitness levels)

3. This can be taken in different ways to challenge/meet your requirements. For example one may walk taking own sweet time, talking to the villagers, taking photos, eating , where as one might try to maintain a pace, while another would do a marathon or a run instead of walking.

A picnic with a beautiful view has always been a dream for me and I got to know it was for few others while we travelled together.

So we decided to make our dreams a reality and thanks to Dream Travels family we did it. I will not mention names but this became this beautiful thanks to all the help we received 🙏❤️.
