Galle dutch fort

The story of the Galle Dutch Fort; a UNESCO World Heritage Site reverberates through every traveler’s photos and captions. Initially built by the Portuguese in the 16th century during their conquests, the fort was later fortified and conquered by the Dutch in the 17th century until it later fell to the might of the British. The old town of Galle was once used as a trading port for spices and other goods for over 200 years. However, today, the fort has been transformed into a place of history, romance, and beauty where travelers are warmly welcomed to dive head first into the exotic stories and be a part of this heritage site.
Fifty Lighthouse Street is set within the fort and offers the perfect base to explore Galle's charms. Preserved in its original glory, stroll along the ramparts and admire the imposing structures like the Galle Lighthouse, Galle Clocktower, and the Groote Kerk. A Galle Fort Walking Tour with us will reveal secrets only a local from within the fort will know. KANDY 🇱🇰

Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It's set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and bio-diverse rainforest. The city's heart is scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), which is popular for strolling. Kandy is famed for sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, celebrated with the grand Esala Perahera annual procession

Why visit Kandy?

KANDY IS SRI LANKA’S SECOND LARGEST CITY AFTER COLOMBO, BRIMMING WITH A FASCINATING HISTORY, RICH CULTURE, SPECTACULAR BEAUTY, AND OLD-WORLD CHARM.

Travel to Kandy

Lush forests, sprawling mountain ranges, the meandering Kandy Lake, known as the Sea of Milk, and an array of distinguished colonial building and magnificent Kandyan inspired architecture completes this Medieval City. This beautiful, laidback capital is only 72 miles (115 kilometers) inland yet boasts exceptional cultural and historical attractions, set amidst forested hills. Known as a pilgrimage destination for the Temple of the Tooth Relic (a sacred tooth of the Buddha), a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kandy is a sacred city, due to the importance and spiritual significance of this temple. It is also known for the vibrantly festive Kandy Esala Perahera, also known as the Festival of the Tooth, an important 10-day religious celebration each August. Lying at an altitude of 1 640 feet (500 meters) above sea level and surrounded by the Knuckles and Hunnasgiriya Mountain Ranges, the temperatures around Kandy are slightly cooler and conditions more pleasant than in the lowlands. An important and established Buddhist site, Kandy was formerly known as the city of Senkadagalapura. It served as the last capital of the Sinhalese kingdom before falling to the British in 1815.
Points of Interest in Kandy
• Stroll amidst the stunning Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya and marvel at exquisite orchids
• Wind your way around three gorgeous temples including Embekke, Lankathilake, and Gadaladeniya, and chat with the locals in fragrant tea stalls
• View the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (a sacred tooth of the Buddha), a revered site for holy pilgrims
• Explore the serene War Cemetery revering the lives of those lost in the war, and the older Garrison Cemetery honoring the men, women, and children buried far from home.

🇱🇰 KALPITIYA KITE SURFING

Kalpitiya is the new best kite destination in Asia, both in winter and summer. Kalpitiya offers a variety of huge flat spots with strong and consistent wind. The main spot is perfect for learning with flat shallow water and safety boats ensuring the best conditions to become an independent rider. As kitesurfing is new in Kalpitiya, the area is not spoiled with big resorts and tourists, and it's the perfect gateway for kiters who love peace and nature, with some crazy parties sometimes happening as well!

⭕ Wind and Weather

Summertime from May to October delivers strong southwest winds every day ranging from 18 to 30 knots. During this season the wind blows almost 24h a day.
Winter season from mid-December to the end of February, with lighter north-west winds from 12 to 20+ knots. Both seasons are very sunny and the changing wind direction offers different spots making it a different riding place each time.

⭕ No Wind?

The kite camps have a good range of no-wind activities such as SUP, yoga, crafts and food workshops, safaris, clam fishing, snorkeling, and dolphin watching (only in the winter).
Where are the Best Kitesurfing Beaches in Kalpitiya?

⚜️ Kalpitiya lagoon

This is the main spot in the area, 800m wide and 2,5km long. It offers various kinds of conditions from super flat water to small chops. It's also possible to cross the sandbank and go rider in the open sea to play with the shore break and small waves.
• Wind: Side to side on to side off to offshore depending where you are riding in the lagoon.
• Waves: Out at sea
• Shorebreak: Yes

⚜️ Vella island

Warning, world-class spot! In our opinion one of the best spots in the world. Vella is a long flat and arched stretch of sand in the middle of the sea located 25 km downwind of the main lagoon. The consistent strong wind blows offshore over it creating a huge flat lagoon over 2km long. Vella only works in the summer season
• Wind: Offshore
• Waves: No
• Shorebreak: No

⚜️ Dutch bay
At the end of the peninsula is a long arched flat beach located 10km from the main lagoon. During the winter season, the wind comes over it and blows offshore in the lagoon. This is another huge super flat spot.
• Wind: Offshore
• Waves: No
• Shorebreak: No

⭕ When is the Best Time to go Kitesurfing in Kalpitiya?
The windy months to go kitesurfing in Kalpitiya are January, February, May, June, July, August, September, October, and December
