Sigiriya is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist attractions – and with good reason. This ruined, fifth century city has some extraordinary features, including moat and wall fortifications, elaborately landscaped gardens, and a monastery. This 3.5 hour jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, would give you an opportunity to see hundreds of elephants in the wild. A relatively small park, with its focal point being the ancient Minneriya Tank. During the months of May to September, it is not uncommon to witness upto three hundred elephants in loose family groups around the Minneriya tank. Additionally, large flocks of spotted-billed pelicans, painted storks and cormorants can be spotted feeding in the waters of the tank.

Wild Water Buffalo can be witnessed in plenty at the waterholes in the National Parks around the country.
Both the male and female possess horns, the female has longer horns and the male broader and stronger horns that grow throughout their lives. These horns are very useful in fighting off predators, especially leopard.

Stilt Fishing is one of the most interesting traditional fishing methods of Sri Lanka.
Though stilt fishermen make the activity seem easy and comfortable; stilt fishing requires much skill and balance. A vertical pole with an attached crossbar is embedded into the sea floor among the shallows, or on a riverbed. The crossbar allows the fishermen to be seated a couple of meters above the water causing minimal shadows on the water and hence little to no disturbance amongst the sea life. The stilt fishermen then use a rod from this precarious position to bring in a good catch of spotted herrings and small mackerels from the comparative shallows of the sea or from the river. They collect the catch in a bag tied to the pole or to their waist.

18 Bend Road, also known as ‘Daha Ata Wanguwa’. It is a famous asphalted road located on the Kandy-Mahiyangana-Padiyathalawa Expressway in the central hills of Sri Lanka. This road is popular with even the most experienced drivers as a very challenging driver. Many people were afraid of this road because of these bends, but it was the only road that connected these areas. Even though the name says ’18 bend ‘, in reality, the road has only 17 hairpin bends. The length of the road is 41 km.

"Thambili", (king coconut) short in stature and commonly found in Sri Lanka, and the nuts of which Sri Lankans regard as a "living pharmacy" is the most versatile and medically practical form of the coconut plant available. Sri Lankans sell and consume thousands of them on a daily basis.
"Kurumba", the green coloured young coconut that is easily available in the villages is cheap and popular.
The king coconut is a well-known source of carbohydrates, vitamin E, iron, calcium and phosphorous. It also has a high dietary soluble fibre and appreciable amounts of protein and fat. In relation to all this the king coconut is a pharmaceutical wonder that has a cure for almost every ailment.

Is Yapahuwa better than Lion Rock?
Although both Lion Rock and Yapahuwa look similar, Lion Rock its history is far more intact and, therefore, still the better choice. However, Yapahuwa has few to zero international tourists, whereas Lion Rock is very busy. You will have it pretty much to yourself, making it a unique experience that not many other travelers will have while traveling in Sri Lanka.
We've been there for one night with german tourist and climb up to top in the evening. amzaing experience and highly recomonded for the tourist who like to Hiking , explore history and so on..
