My Mobitel balance went down to zero from over Rs 1000 suddenly. I have been away from SL over 10 months but added balance last August which should be valid for one year and kept receiving commercial text messages once in a while but never used from here once. Do they deactivate due to no use though there is money, and take away from you? I recharged again and also inquired to Mobitel. I wonder about their response.

Uber is new way of getting to places around Colombo. For shorter distance, I have been happy. But going little away from Colombo, there was a hidden extra charge of coming back.

My estimate price was Rs.522 and the bill that came was Rs. 808 and it is not acceptable. They charged time and distance that the driver caused due to his not knowing the area and the driver almost dropped me off at unkown isolated location. I would not use the service other than going into Colombo from now on.

I have been seeing Sri Lanka up close for last 10 years. There are many changes that happened in the last decade but not many for good ways. The cost of living became so high but not the quality of life in general.

There is a garbage mountain becoming higher daily at Kolonnawa. When foreign investors offered to purchase garbage for fuel use and sell back energy few years ago, they thought they did not need outside help. Now it is hopeless, people still litter road side too.

The change has to come from within and my observation is that it is not happening here.

I can't hope much now when a decade is not enough. But I still wish that this year brings some bright change. Happy New Year to all !

The construction of Welikada overpass is causing heavy traffic during commute time, the traffic pattern changes all the time and confusing. Yet drivers have learnt to be patient and I have not seen any accidents and use of horn in minimal. Respect to all the hard working people who balance work, school run and family affairs of every day life.

Keells super shop card was not returned one day after I shopped and I thought I lost it like it happened with Cargills card. But they actually keep the card organised with some memo attached, so just in case if a customer like me comes back with the hope to see the old card back again, IT WILL BE THERE

35 GB a month is used up in 2 weeks, but adding extra GB is very easy though costly. It is Rs 150/GB if you add more than 5 GB at Sri Lanka Telecom.

Still internet in Sri Lanka is affordable. Now they started Fiber Optic router and WIFI as well for residential customers too.

I noticed that a company who boasts as British era company advertises big on daily paper. The very company who defrauded us and others and now blocking my page and/posts. They have moved to different location from their namesake road. I am planning to restart my mission to make things right (and recover the rest of refund and interests.)

Looks like my page is blocked for readers in Sri Lanka because a company I was reporting of their unethical practice complained and went to every post one by one to report. All the article are more than 3 years old and were there all this time. I was a victim of fraud and have not been compensated fully. Because I had enough spending time on this, I went dormant. Now I would like to recover the rest of money with interest as stated in the official promissory note issued in 2013 after 2010 contract was never completed.

Pick Me or Uber are new additions in selecting mode of transportation in Colombo. However when there is a need, quite often they are not available or sometimes drivers may cancel the ride due to heavy traffic. I have local contacts with some three wheeler guys and they can come in a matter of minutes. They may be a bit expensive but reliable. Today I used one of them and because the meter was not working we had to negotiate the fare. He wanted more than I suggested but at the end of ride he asked for my price so I tipped him and he said to call anytime again. I think this is a good way to keep a customer.

I hope that the flood water will go soon and the people can start rebuilding life again. It looks that there will be shortage of fresh food in the weeks to come. Some roads are still wet and with many water filled pot holes. It is hard to find good vegetables and fruits anywhere. But we are thankful that we can stay dry indoors while many people suffer tonight. Happy Vesak and hope the lights of lanterns will be comfort to all.

I drive about 30 km a day in Colombo, mine is a small 600 cc Kei-car from Japan. For 25 liter of 92 petrol, that is 3000 rupees, it does only 220 km. (Much better in highway of course.) There is a new trend of sharing a ride and cost but to find exact match seems too complicated, so I drive solo most of the time like many others. I wonder how much money is spent on gas and car for this almost non-moving traffic. We are polluting air and wasting time and money. Better public transport system is essential to get out from this mess now! Otherwise future generation Sri Lankan will only think of anywhere but here.
