The chances of spotting whales during November - April are 98%. Keep in your mind that you are going to see wild life, so spotting of whales is not 100%. The largest animal to ever inhabit our planet is the blue whale. If you're looking for another reason to pick Sri Lanka as your next holiday destination, this is it. Although Antarctica or the Azores dominates the world’s idea of authentic whale-watching experiences, Sri Lanka is a worthy competitor due to the rightful claim to her own cetacean crown, with stunningly azure seas and blue whales that could be witnessed off Sri Lanka’s coast of Mirissa or Galle between November and April.

A journey to the Nitro Cave
Have you ever heard of a Nitro Cave? That's right, a cave that's filled with bat poop deposits that contain around 80% potassium nitrate, the chemical substance used in gun powder.
Here is @Katharina Rbn of @By Foot Adventures Sri Lanka explaining to our Co- Founder Brindley Wijeysooria about the significance of this cave and why it should be protected.
We absolutely loved getting here with an adventurous 4x4 safari through Corbet's Gap and then to a quirky village before finally ascending to the caves.
Lengend has it that this cave complex has a cavern network that runs through towards Rathtota.

A throwback to when Sensory Indulgences explored the Ruhunu Kingdom. In the South Eastern (Ruhuna) part of Sri Lanka, paddy cultivations were just as prominent as the Cultural Triangle.
With their lineage being from the North, the kings of the South also lived by the motto that they shall not let any drop of rain reach the ocean, without it being used for paddy and agriculture. Hence to this day we still see the manmade lakes, vast fields of paddy cultivation and chena plantations in the South. No wonder Sri Lanka was glorious as the granary of the East, in the past. A feat that we can still accomplish if we try.
Stay tuned for more exciting news on the story of paddy and the unique culture, traditions and rituals that surround it. It's time that we take this story to the world.
