Top 5 places t visit in Kandy 🇱🇰🫶🏽

1. Sri Dalada Maligawa - Dalada Maligawa AKA Temple of the Tooth Relic is located in the Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Lord Buddha.

2. The Royal Botanical Gardens of Kandy - Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya are about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy. is renowned for its collection of orchids.

3. Ambuluwawa Tower - Ambuluwawa Tower is the first Multi Religious Center in Sri Lanka. You can see a Temple, Kovil, Mosque and a Church. It is just a 1hour drive from Kandy. Ambuluwawa is a relatively easy hike to do which gives you 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains, forests, rivers and towns.

4. Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha Statue - The temple on the hill of Bahirawakanda, called the Sri Maha Bodhi Viharaya, is most well-known to tourists for its giant Buddha statue, which can be seen from almost any point in the city of Kandy.

5. Kandy Lake - Kandy Lake, also known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake in the heart of the hill city of Kandy, Sri Lanka, built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth. A leisurely stroll around it, with a few stops on the lakeside seats, is a pleasant way to spend a few hours in the evening.

Sri Lanka is one of the world's best places for whale watching. 🐳 🐋 🇱🇰

The best places to do tours are Mirissa in the south-west, Trincomalee in the north-east.

In Mirissa, the best time for whale watching is from November to April; in Trincomalee, the best time is from June to October as whales continue their migrations around the island from the south coast.

Most of the whale-watching boat trips start at 6:30 am in the morning.

The prices are around 38-45 USD per person and mostly including whale-watching, pick-up from the hotel, breakfast, and water.

Rice and Curry is considered as the national dish of the country. It is comprised
of a large bowl of rice with a variety of curries prepared using chilli peppers, cardamom, cumin, coriander and other gourmet Sri Lankan spices. It has a scrumptious taste to it and the fragrance is mouth watering ! Sri Lankan Rice and Curry is eaten with many different types of curries made out of not only vegetables, but also meat and sea food.

String Hoppers or Idiyaapam is a common Sri Lankan Breakfast dish.
It is prepared by squeezing dough made from
roasted rice flour or steamed wheat flour through a mold to create thin, thread-like noodles that are best created in rings over tiny rattan mats and then steam-cooked to perfection.
String Hoppers are eaten with any curry.But most of the Sri Lankans enjoy it with Chicken curry / Dhal curry and Pol Sambol.

Srilankan Pol roti ( coconut roti) is made out of coconut and flour. Sometimes, a hint of chopped red onions and chillies are added as well to bring in that extra flavor. Sri Lankans regularly eat pol roti for breakfast or dinner as it is an easy dish to make.

Kottu or Kottu roti became a national favorite dish mostly among the kids and youth in SL. Firstly, it was a street food but now it has become an anytime anywhere dish. Kottu is made by thinly shredded roti, mixed with the curry, vegetables and Sri Lankan aromatic spices. It tastes heavenly.
