MATILDA COMING TO TOWN !!!

Presented by Colombo’s lifestyle and entertainment capital Cinnamon Life together with GWB Entertainment and The Royal Shakespeare Company, the musical’s narrative tells the utterly exhilarating, nostalgic and yet rebellious story of Matilda. Charming, heartwarming and brilliantly witty from start to finish, the iconic musical engrosses the young and old alike, in Matilda’s quest for a better life as she dares to stand up for oneself, fight the oppressive forces and rewrite destiny once and for all.

Scheduled to take the stage at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre from 5th – 9th June, Matilda the Musical is set to deliver a wonderful night of theatre, that the whole family will enjoy.

Matilda the Musical perfectly encapsulates Roald Dahl’s anarchically exuberant and gleeful story, combining the ingenious work of writer Dennis Kelly and the unmatched input of composer and lyricist Tim Minchin to bring a spectacular experience full of unassumed surprises.

Today Sri Lanka celebrate 69 years of independence from British rule. Formerly known as Ceylon, the country attained self-rule in 1948 while remaining a British dominion. This continued until 1972 when it became a republic and was renamed Sri Lanka.
The main celebration will take place at Galle Face, in the capital of Colombo under the patronage of President Mr. Maithreepala Sirisena and Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wicramasinghe. Cultural dances, military parades, and a flag raising ceremony will be some of the highlights.
For Sri Lanka it is a day for remembrance as well as celebration.
Two minutes of silence will be observed in memory of Sri Lanka’s national heroes and military heroes who lost their lives for the sake of motherland.,
