Our Story
This is representing to promote sustainable, community-based whale watching in Sri Lankan waters. www.jetwingeternalearthprogramme.com.
The deep water canyon that defines the underwater topography of the Mirissa and Dondra, Sri Lanka creates ideal conditions for a wide variety of pelagic as well as nearshore species and offers incredible marine and wildlife viewing opportunities year round.
Come join us for an unforgettable experience as we sail in search of the many species that make the waters of Indian Ocean their home or pass through in migration. In season we regularly see Blue Whales, Brayde’s Whales, S***m Whales, Spinner Dolphins, Risso's Dolphins, Common Dolphins and Bottlenose Dolphins. With a little luck we also see Killer Whales, Humpback Whales and some Beaked Whales. Sea Turtles and Flying Fishes are also regularly seen and Crimson Rose Butterflies and some Dragonflies sometimes put in an appearance. We also see fishes like Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola) and Whale Sharks, Green Turtles and we encounter a variety of seabirds on our trips, including the majestic Shire waters and Tropic Birds.
Our two vessels, the Sea Wolf I and Spirit of Dondra are piloted by the most experienced captains in Mirissa who are also well experienced. All trips are narrated by skilled Naturalist /marine biologists . There is a fully stocked snack bar aboard the boats. You can round out your trip with a visit to our eclectic souvenir shop on the board.
