The Swing in Dalawella Beach Unawatuna Sri Lanka
The location of the swing is on Dalawella Beach, which is in the south of Sri Lanka near the popular town of Unawatuna. It takes about two hours to get to Dalawella Beach by train from Colombo and will cost a couple of bucks for the ticket. Once you are at Dalawella Beach the exact location is actually in front of a guesthouse called Dream Cabana.
The guys at Dream Cabana built the swing as something fun for themselves and it is evolved into one of the most talked about spots in Sri Lanka. It’s crazy how something a few mates built has become a bucket list item in Sri Lanka.
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY RAINBOWS IN NIAGARA FALLS
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY RAINBOWS IN NIAGARA FALLS
The Niagara Falls flows down from a great height and as it crashes into the river below it releases mist or tiny water droplets. Since the huge volumes of water are continuously flowing down, the mist remains suspended in the air around the falls. So when sunlight passes though the mist, it results in the formation of the pretty rainbows over the falls.
You can also spot secondary rainbows or twin rainbows as well. The double reflection of sunlight in the misty water results in the formation of two rainbows.
The colours of the secondary rainbow are lighter than the colours of the primary rainbow. All you need is a good vantage position and you can be assured of seeing this wonderful sight.
The lovely hues of the rainbow against the white cascading waterfall, the flowing river and blue skies make for an impressive sight. It’s as if nature has decided to put up a spectacular show of light and colour just for you.
This site also provides great photo opportunities.

Surprising Facts about Turtles in Sri Lanka
Surprising Facts about Turtles in Sri Lanka
Marine turtles have been roaming the world's oceans for about 190 million years.
Today eight species of these ancient reptiles remain. Five of these species regularly visit the sandy beaches of Sri Lanka to nest.
Throughout the world, marine turtles are hunted and butchered for their flesh and shells.
Even female turtles that have hauled themselves up the beach to nest are killed and their eggs are stolen.
The result of this global over exploitation is that this highly successful group of animals, which managed to survive with the dinosaurs, has become critically endangered. All species of marine turtle face extinction if man does not cease his destructive activities.
In Sri Lanka all sea turtles and their products are fully protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance. Anyone found to be violating the conditions of this Ordinance is liable to face a substantial fine and/or prison term.
Sea turtles are also protected under international law, therefore international trade in sea turtle products is illegal in countries, such as Sri Lanka, which are signatories to the CITES Convention. (CITES - Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species)

ALA NATIONAL PARK: YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE FOR A SAFARI
YALA NATIONAL PARK: YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE FOR A SAFARI
Block 1 is the most popular area for safaris in the park.
This was the first block to be visited, so the animals are not very scared of the vehicles in the park.
Since Yala has the highest density of leopards in the world, there are more than 50 leopards in this block. Therefore, although it is not guaranteed, you can spot a leopard in a safari most of the time.
Also, there are two separate entrances to Block 01.
One is from Palatupana and the other from Katagamuwa in order to reduce the number of jeeps getting to the park Even though, you would have to expect some traffic in this block, during the peak of the tourist season.

An Instagrammer’s Guide to Nine Arch Bridge
Ella Sri Lanka: An Instagrammer’s Guide to Nine Arch Bridge
Tucked away in the mountainous village of Ella, Nine Arch Bridge is located in the lush green hills between the Ella and Demodara railway stations.
The name is derrived from its nine arched spans; it is also nicknamed the Bridge in the Sky since it is 80ft/25M tall. The Nine Arch Bridge is a total of 300ft/91M in length.
Built by the Brits using a combination of stones, bricks, and cement, this Ella staple is a prime example of colonial-era railway construction.
Due to its grand architecture and unique characteristics, Nine Arch Bridge has been growing increasingly in popularity as a tourist attraction; it is in fact one of the most photographed places in all of Sri Lanka.
Despite its beauty, it is still a completely functional bridge.
You can, and should, walk on the bridge; in fact it is used multiple times daily and is a part of the world famous Ella train route (this segment is between the Ella and Demodara railway stations).
You can even time your visit so that you are here when the train passes through

Sri Lanka NO 1 Island in the World
Readers of US-based Travel and Leisure magazine have ranked Sri Lanka as the best island in the world to visit in 2019, adding to the accolades the country received recently.
Sri Lanka debuted at the top of the list, for its diversity of experiences.
Wildlife, marine life, tea plantations, and 'stunning beaches' makes the island a must-visit, Travel and Leisure writer Rebecca Ascher-Walsh said.
Sri Lanka beat out a host of Greek islands, the Maldives, Fiji, Maui in Hawaii and the Palawan Island in the Philippines to take the global top spot, as well as the number one island in Asia.
"After the terrorist attacks in April, Sri Lanka’s booming tourism industry has taken a hit, but the island country is on the mend — and as glorious as ever to visit," Ascher-Walsh wrote.
"It’s worth clearing your calendar to spend as much time as possible on this 25,000-square-mile jewel, located off the coast of India."
Sri Lanka was named the world's greatest place to visit in 2019 by Lonely Planet, which said that its choice remained unchanged after the Easter Sunday terror attack.
