Straight from the airport we went to initiation graduation concert then took her for a historical hike straight to the top of Thaba Bosiu and she loved it.

Lesotho Independence

Lesotho was under British Protectorate since 1868 and gained Independence from Britain on 4 October 1966. Lesotho was called Basutoland. The founder and King of Lesotho named King Moshoeshoe invited the British to protect Lesotho from the Dutch who wanted to take the Moshoeshoes land and make it part of what we know as South Africa today. The Dutch had for several times invaded Moshoeshoe and his nation but failed in all attempts. The British accepted proposal from Moshoeshoe and then Lesotho was put under British Admnistration. On the 3 October 1966 a day before Independence the British and Basotho unveiled King Moshoeshoes statue in the heart of Maseru. Princess Margaret of the British Royal Family was amongst the British delegation that attended the official handing over of power from British to Basotho. The mission had been accomplished (though debatable) the Dutch failed to make Lesotho part of Union of South Afrika. King Moshoeshoe II, the direct descendant of Kong Moshoeshoe I and also the father to current King of Lesotho King Letsie III was constitutional Monarch when Lesotho gained Independence at the ceremony held at Pitso Ground in 4 October 1966.

| Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent represented the Queen at the Independence Celebrations of the Kingdom of Lesotho 55 years ago, with the Accession of the Paramount Chief of Basutoland as King Moshoeshoe II!

In celebration of World Tourism Month Captain Shylock of Leseli Tours hosted over 20high schools and 2 tertiary institutions at the Travel Tourism Hospitality and Aviation Expo held at Moshoeshoe I International Airport. The aim was to give children exposure on services in the tourism industry.

The exhibitors were leaders in the industry being the following: Maluti Travel and Tours. Civil Aviation Authority. Moshoeshoe I International Airport. Mission Aviation Fellowship.
