🌞On June 23rd, we will be celebrating St John's Eve: we will be singing folk songs and dancing, tell fortune, will be making and floating flower wreaths, seeing off the sun and searching for the fern blossom.🌾

🌾August 15th is the Assumption Day (the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, in Lithuanian it is called "Žolinė"). It is a national holiday in Lithuania.

🌻According to Catholic tradition and doctrine, the Virgin Mary was assumed into Heaven with body and soul. However, ancient traditions are mixed in with Assumption Day teaching and practices, the festival has pagan Baltic roots as a harvest festival.

💐On that day, people make bouquets of flowers and herbs and bring them to church to sanctify.

💃Celebration of the Assumption Day is accompanied with concerts, dancing and singing. It is important to be together in a community on that day.

📣The celebration of the Assumption in Krekenava was included on the list of intangible heritage of Lithuania. The Visitor Centre of Krekenava Regional Park will be open for visitors and free of charge on that day. While going to Krekenava, visit the Old Town of Kėdainiai, make a short stop near a manor estate in Kalnaberžė, walk on the footbridge in Surviliškis, view a beautiful panorama from Bakainiai Mound, wade in the Liaudė Rivulet surrounding the mound.
