A community birth can lead to high rates of vaginal birth and good outcomes for both mothers and babies in properly selected twin pregnancies. Community twin birth with midwifery style care under specific protocol guidelines and with a skilled practitioner may be a reasonable choice for women wishing to avoid a cesarean section—especially when there is no option of a hospital vaginal birth. Training all practitioners in vaginal twin and breech birth skills remains an imperative.

The second episode of the Midwives of the Apocalypse Podcast , intuition follows on from chaos. Intuition is the skill of seeing in the dark. Initiation is often shunned however it is a skeleton tool of birth craft it is a skill and an art and needs to be interwoven with our clinical skills. AMMA Academy’s purpose is to elevate and honour midwifery. This profession is more than a trade, it’s a calling. Midwifery is a sacrament, an oath, a commitment and it’s how we honour all who developed and nurtured the art of birth before us and all who practice it now. Traditional midwifes accompany humanity through the ages since ancient times. Midwifery tradition has been kept alive passing down the knowledge from generation to generation for thousands of years and in some parts of the world this line has never been broken and is sustained until this day. Little by little it strengthens in places where it has faded as well. We are founding AMMA as a bridge in order to assemble and to spread the experience and knowledge from both the newest scientific research and traditional midwifery.
