Its that time again! Where to Wednesday and this week we are going to the Dominican Republic. Below are some things you should know before traveling there!
-->You can only get Dominican Peso's in the country and can only reconvert %30 of what you converted when arriving so be aware of that. Few places will accept US dollars
--> The Dominicans are very friendly and welcoming, always ready for a good time.
-->time keeping is very relaxed most places it is typical to show up 15 to 30 mins late.
--> Do NOT drink the tap water. It is safe to gargle with if you do not have a weak stomach but other than that it is not safe to drink. You can buy water at corner stores (colmados) and most hotels provide bottled water.
--> The herbal drink Mamajuana is a must try when visiting. It was originally prepared by native Taino Indians but today's recipe contains herbs and cured tree barks soaked in %50 rum, %40 wine and %10 honey.
--> Since it is hot year round the best time to travel is between December and March when the temperatures are the coolest. Keep in mind the wet season is also during this time due to is tropical rain forest climate.
