Beneath the heart of Luxembourg City lies a tale of love, secrecy, and mystery… 🧜‍♀️✨

When the first Count of Luxembourg, Count Siegfried, married Melusina, she made one request: every Saturday she wanted to be left alone, undisturbed with complete privacy. But curiosity got the better of him…

One fateful day, he broke his promise and secretly peeked through the keyhole as she bathed. To his shock, he discovered her secret: she had the tail of a mermaid. 🧜‍♀️

Realising she had been betrayed, Melusina vanished into the Alzette River, never to be seen again. But some say she still lingers in the river’s depths, waiting to return.

Another version of the legend suggests she still lives in the 47-meter deep well in the middle of the Bock Casemates, where she was swallowed by the rock. 🪨
