A TALE OF TWO CAPITALS
In the northern reaches of Europe lies a unique opportunity for travellers: the chance to explore two distinct capitals in one journey. Helsinki, the vibrant capital of Finland, and Tallinn, the charming gem of Estonia, are separated by just 80 kilometres of water, making them easily accessible to each other via a scenic two-hour sea voyage. Connecting these two capitals is a fleet of modern vessels departing and arriving at super-modern passenger terminals. Departing from Helsinki's West Harbor, travelers are treated to stunning views of the archipelago. The voyage passes quickly, with onboard amenities ranging from cozy restaurants serving Nordic delicacies to duty-free shops offering a variety of goods and a choice of comfortable and luxurious lounges.
As the vessel approaches Tallinn's D-Terminal, passengers are greeted by the sight of medieval towers and red-roofed buildings rising up from the shoreline. Travelers should allow ample time to delve deeper into the cultural riches of both capitals. Whether it's exploring Helsinki's vibrant arts scene or delving into Tallinn's medieval past, indulging in the pleasures of Nordic cuisine restaurants, each city and their picturesque surroundings offer a wealth of attractions to satisfy even the most discerning travelers. “COOLCATION” IN THE NORDIC AND BALTIC COUNTRIES
As spring blossoms across Europe, travellers are eagerly planning their summer escapes. Recent data indicates that by the end of March, just shy of half of European travellers had pinned down their destinations for the upcoming summer vacation. For those who have not yet decided where to go, there is still plenty of time to embrace a unique trend that, according to top travel experts like Conde Nast, is taking Europe by storm – “coolcation”. Due to climate change, more and more travelers are choosing destinations in Europe with a more temperate climate. The Nordic countries – Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland – have gained significant popularity in recent years, and they are increasingly being joined by the Baltic countries – Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Spend your “coolcation” summer holidays in the Nordic & Baltic countries. Our destinations are safe, our products are sustainable, our summers are mild and warm, and our nights are cool and bright.

2025 PRICES IN PROCESS
Via Hansa & Borealis are in the process of finalizing the 2025 group rates. We have finalized with some few hotels, while negotiations to secure the best possible and competitive rates continues with other hotels. We expect moderate increases in line with or lower than the inflation on our destinations. We are as usual contracting substantial allotments with our main hotels partners at very competitive rates. In general, hotels continue to pursue a very dynamic price policy, meaning in most cases the prices will increase as hotels fill up for the 2025 season. Therefore, we recommend to place booking of group series for 2025 as early as possible to obtain the best possible prices. For general information, please contact our Corporate Director of Contracting: [email protected]

ASIANS RETURN TO NORDIC AND BALTIC DESTINATIONS
While the last year saw Europeans and North Americans return to the Nordic and Baltic destinations in fairly large numbers, the recovery from Asia has been much weaker. Economic challenges in many Asian economies, concern for the safety and security on the destinations and longer and more expensive long-haul flights as the air companies cannot travel though Russian airspace, have been some of the obstacles. However, 2024 will see the Asians return to Europe and to our Nordic and Baltic destinations. Customers from Japan, Korea, Taiwan are warmly welcome to send inquires and bookings directly to our sales offices in Copenhagen and Riga, and customers from South East Asia are welcome to contact our sales office in Kuala Lumpur: [email protected]. NEW MANAGEMENT AT VIA HANSA & BOREALIS WARSAW
Via Hansa & Borealis has assigned a new management for its office in Warsaw. Effective March 1st 2024, Mr. Zbigniew Mazonik, has been appointed new Managing Director for Via Hansa & Borealis Warsaw. Zbigniew has been devoting his entire adult life to the travel industry in Poland, working for leading Polish inbound companies and managing hotels operations. Zbigniew has been tasked with developing creative and innovation products for Poland, streamlining and finetuning operations and build up a strong and professional team in Warsaw and Poland.
Inbound tourism to Poland has dropped in the previous years because of the pandemic and the Russian war on Ukraine, and the number of visitors are still lower the pre-pandemic level. However, the end of last year saw a strong recovery and the positive tendency continues into 2024. Via Hansa & Borealis believes Poland has a great potential in the future, a large European country offering some of the best value in Europe. The country has a lot to offer when it comes and history, culture, nature. From North to South the country is very diverse with attractive Baltic Sea resorts, large stretches on unspoiled nature, beautiful areas of forest, lakes, rivers and rolling fields, old castles and manors, historical old towns like Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Szczecin, Poza, the capital Warsaw, not to forget and many more and not at least the mountainous southern part of the country. Not surprising that the last decades have seen massive investments into tourism infrastructure in Poland, plenty of modern hotels, conference and spa facilities, venues, museums and attractions, all at very affordable prices. Via Hansa & Borealis sees the biggest potential in package tours for high paying FITs, MICE business and corporate travel. THE FAROE ISLANDS : AN IMMERSIVE TOURIST GEM
Headed by Senior Sales & Project Manager, Arnar Mar Arnthorsson, a team from Via Hansa & Borealis recently embarked on an unforgettable journey to the captivating Faroe Islands in collaboration with our local suppliers. The archipelago, located in the North Atlantic Ocean and steeped in mystique and wonder, welcomed our adventurers with open arms, unveiling a tapestry of experiences that would forever leave an indelible mark. They wandered through the charming streets of Thorshavn, absorbing the island's unique atmosphere. As the sun dipped below the horizon, they experienced a local culinary masterpiece—the "shoulder of a lamb." Another memorable stop was Vágar Island, where they braved the elements to witness the breathtaking "Lake Above the Ocean" at Trælanípa. Kalsoy beckoned, with a vintage schooner journey to Syðradalur and Mikladalur, revealing the legend of Kópakonan. Trollanes and Kunoy's charms left an enduring impression, and a thrilling RIB boat tour to Hestur Island took the travelers through hidden caves, creating unforgettable memories. They all departed with a newfound appreciation for this remote paradise, vowing to return someday.

BALTIC COUNTRIES CONTINUE RECOVERY
Via Hansa & Borealis was recently entertaining a group of fifteen travel executives from companies in Europe, Canada and Australia through a week-long tour in the Baltic countries. The purpose of the trip was to reconnect traditional customers and to acquaint new customers with the Baltic destinations as they are today. The trip which was supported by the three Baltic national tourism boards and a number of regional Baltic tourism boards, was in particular inspiring the customers to innovate traditional programs, and the guests were acquainted with a lot of novelties in the capitals cities, introduced to many cultural immersions and soft nature adventure in all three countries. The trip was blessed by unusually warm and sunny spring weather, and the guests went back with an impression of the Baltic destinations as safe and secure and with a lot to offer in the future.
After three years, which were marked by the Covid pandemic and the Russian war in Ukraine, 2023 is seeing a real recovery. Hotels are very well booked for this summer, there are still availabilities, but both hotels in the capitals and in popular provincial towns are increasingly booked out. Tour operators are kept significantly more busy than the last three years. Via Hansa & Borealis recommends early bookings for 2023/4 as many hotels go fast towards a more dynamic price system with decent rates for early bookings and higher rates later. For more information, please contact our sales departments in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius.
