Vecā Skrundas Apartamentu ēka ir pelnījusi mazliet skaistumu. Top jaunas durvis. Šoreiz gribam ielaist mājā vairāk gaismas, tāpēc lielais stikla logs...
Our apartment hotel is not just another hotel.

Want your business to be the top-listed Travel Agency?
We are a family with three children all of whom have helped in renovating this house that we received as a gift from our grandma and great grandma Elvira. On our profile picture you can see Elvira, as an 18 year old, standing in front of her husband on the left side of the picture, dressed in typical Latvian national costume from Barta region in Courland. The ocassion is Elvira’s son Andris baptism. Andris is sitting in Elvira’s sister Marija’s lap and her other sister Anna is sitting next to Marija.
We are very grateful to our grandmother (and great grandmother) Elvira who entrusted us with this house and we really want to make her proud if she can see us from above the clouds as she peacefully passed away at the age of 98. Elvira always taught us that hard work and honesty are two things that define a person. She lost her father when she was 3 years old and was sent to live with her grandma since her mother could not alone take care of the three small children. At the age of five Elvira was already working - standing on the banks of Venta river and keeping an eye on grazing cows. One of her most beautiful and maudlin stories was about the time when she as a young girl found a dime on the road to Skrunda. The money was enough to buy her a hat that she had been wanting for years but could not afford. She was overjoyed and proud to finally wear a hat just like other young girls did at that time.
The house has a very interesting history and the apartment you are about to rent is our way of generating income to preserve the house for the next generations. The house was built in 1933 by my, current owners, great grandmother Lize and her husband Janis. Lize and Janis worked hard to save the money and build this house that was meant to be their source of income when they get old, as they planned to rent out a part of the house. After the II World War it was confiscated by the Soviets. Janis and Lize never got to live in the house that they had built. The house was returned Lize’s daughter, current owners grandmother Elvira, only 1994 after the fall of Sovjet Union, long after Lize and Janis had passed away. Elvira lived not far from her childhood town Skrunda until 98 years of age and was happy to see the house finally getting renovated. I hope you will enjoy staying at Elvira’s long lost and regained house and we want to thank you for booking this apartment and helping us preserve this house for our three children and future grandchildren.
By renting this apartment you will also be supporting the local inhabitants of Skrunda by providing job opportunities for cleaning staff, etc. You will also support local stores and tourist activities providers and contribute to improving people’s lives and businesses in the small and friendly town of Skrunda. And above all, you will give people hope that it is worth starting a business in a small town instead of moving to larger cities or emigrating.
