Bass Lake Rink FAQ:
⛸ Opening (limited): Today, Dec. 23 at 4pm - 8pm

⛸ Grand opening: date TBD; in an early January

⛸ Cost: $20 ages 12+; $15 children - for 2 consecutive 60-minute sessions (2h); skate rental is FREE with admission

⛸ Reservations: no reservations; walk-ins only. Tickets can be purchased at the rink

⛸ IMPORTANT: open to the public. You do not have to be a hotel guest to come and enjoy it.

Exciting news! The Half Dome cables will be up for the season on Thursday, May 19, 2022. A permit is required to summit Half Dome. Most permits are available via a preseason lottery, but a limited number are available every day, two days in advance. All permits for May 19–May 26 will become available two days in advance. See https://www.recreation.gov/permits/234652 for details.

If you will be hiking to Half Dome, be prepared with several liters of water, good hiking footwear, and a headlamp (with extra batteries). Be prepared to turn around if a thunderstorm appears possible. Stay back from the Merced River, which is running at high flow right now. If you see a bear on the trail or approaching you, scare it away by yelling loudly, aggressively, and persistently. Always keep your food within arm's reach. And enjoy the hike!

Thanksgiving at Bass Lake is amazing! 2 years ago at Thanksgiving we had a foot of snow! Kinda sad we will miss it this year!

Yesterday, U.S. Forest Service - Sierra National Forest announced that USDA Forest Service Temporarily Closing All California National Forests for Public Safety.

Due to state-wide conditions, any new fire starts have the potential for large and rapid fire growth with a high risk to life and property.

Important things to know (as of 08/31/2021):
▪️ The Pines Resort and other businesses are open and not impacted by this order.
▪️ Bass Lake remains open for recreation - it is owned by PG&E
▪️ Yosemite National Park is open, reservations are still required.
▪️ There is no road closure that would prevent access to the Resort.

CLOSURES will immediately affect:
▪️ Day-use areas around the Lake (parkings, bathroom, public boat ramp)
▪️ Campsites, hiking, biking and any other recreational activties in Sierra National Forest

We are still awaiting clarification regarding the orders so we can all answer visitor questions. Should there be more updates available, we will post them. https://www.fs.usda.gov/sierra/
