A black algae grows on the rocks along the south east coast. It establishes itself on rocks up to the high tide mark and is very slippery when wet.
Look out for this algae and avoid walking on it at all times.

Ah, say hello to our locals at Lucky Bay 😀

Making your Monday morning a little better by bringing this furry friend to your feed 🦘

As you can see, the kangaroos are pretty 'lucky' to call this beach their home, as they frequent the white beach sands and look out over the turquoise blue waters. If you visit Lucky Bay, located in Cape Le Grand National Park in Esperance, you'll see these guys grazing through the bushlands and even sniffing around the nearby Lucky Bay campsite, which provides magical views of the beautiful bay.

We must remind visitors to please do not feed the kangaroos as many of our foods are bad for their health.

Yep, they do, which means being prepared, driving to conditions and safely.

A variety of people use the beach from experienced drivers to first time 4 wheel drivers.

When travelling these holidays, be prepared and know where the next fuel station is. Driving from Perth to Esperance, we recommend you take Route 40, to Highway 1, through Ravensthorpe.

A lot of people like the excitement of seeing outback Australia by taking the Lake King - Cascade Rd to Esperance. A warning about this gravel road:
⛽ Your last chance to fill up with fuel is in Lake King.
📵 Mobile Coverage is intermittent.
⚠️ The road can be dangerous to drive on, so drive to conditions.
🚫 There is NO FUEL, mechanics or tyre fitters in Cascade.
🦘 Wildlife is always on the move, so keep your eyes open.

This road is very remote, so make sure you are fully prepared and ready to travel this route.

Remember, be sensible and drive safe on our regional roads.

Don't Ignore the Yawning Signs - Travelling the wide open roads to Esperance can be exhausting (it is over 700km away 😉), so what are some early signs of fatigue?
▪️ Wandering thoughts.
▪️ Missing a gear, road sign or exit.
▪️ Slowing or speeding up unintentionally.
▪️ Braking too late

If you are driving, you should pull over and have a rest if you:
‼️ Yawn
‼️ Blink more than usual.
‼️ Have trouble keeping your head up.
‼️ Notice your eyes closing for a moment or going out of focus.
‼️ Forget driving the last few kilometres (we've all been there...)
