There’s a surefire way to start a fight with a native North Carolinian. It’s not arguing about which university is tops in the state — clearly it’s NC State — or the best basketball conference — everyone knows it’s the ACC.

Happy ! In North Carolina, it’s no secret there is debate over regional barbecue variations but one thing all North Carolinians agree on: barbecue is smoked pork and seasoned with a vinegar-based sauce…barbecue is not a grill. Now that we’ve covered that, tell us how you build you barbecue plate!

Festival friends, we're excited to announce that we'll be rolling out our Lift Up Lexington initiative on Saturday, October 24! It's going to be an opportunity for us to give back to our community & benefit Pastor's Pantry.

You'll be hearing more about this in the coming days, but let's just say it's going to be super cool!! For example...Donate 5 items of non-perishable food from 11am-7pm at one of our official festival restaurants & you'll get a coupon for a FREE BBQ Sandwich to be used that day at that particular restaurant: Speedy's BBQ, Barbecue Center, Smokey Joe's BBQ, & Stamey's BBQ.

The fun doesn't stop there...Food Lion will be hosting a drop off location at their store located at 848 N. Winston Road from 10am-5pm where you can spin a prize wheel & the festival will have a booth in front of the Tourism Authority office from 10am-5pm, adjacent to Main Street, with prizes, too.

Uptown merchants have also joined in on the fun & they'll be offering specials that day like - a percentage off/discount, free pimento cheese & a free cupcake. What did we just say??? Haha. You heard us...lots of amazing opportunities to GIVE & receive in Lexington on Oct. 24. Check out the current list here: https://www.barbecuefestival.com/events/2020/lift-up-lexington---food-drive--blood-drive

And, drum roll please, for our awesome sponsors...Orrell's Food Service, Lexington Tourism Authority, BB&T now Truist, Pepsi, Lexington Utilities & Food Lion.

Thanks for your support & we can't wait to see you on October 24!

***Safety is very important & all booth/drop off locations will adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.
